Good morning July'ers,

The last 24 hours have pretty much sucked. Cravings, trouble getting to sleep, brain fog, lack of energy and my lower back is hurting pretty bad.

Here's to a better day ahead.

Day 10

I have a surprise day off. Movers at the office and boss deemed too much distraction. I'm on day 12 and I don't think I've thought about drinking. I had such a brutal ending. I know there will come a time though. I've got to be ready. Thanks julyers. Welcome to the new people!

That's definitely the case with me as well. I drank alot up to and including the weekend of June 17th. You can see my resting heart rate consistently going up to 60 BPM. I drank so much that weekend, that I took the next 6 days off, and you can see the direct correlation:

Of course, those 6 days didn't last, and I spent the next two weeks, drinking - and my heart rate increased until July 10th when I quit

Since then, my resting heart rate has continued down every day. I hope it levels off - or my heart is going to stop all together in about 45more days!

That's hilarious! I had exactly the same thought the last time
mine dropped below 50. It gets so low and loud you can really
feel it, and you wonder if it's just going to go to 0.
You must be pretty athletic. I wish they had instant blood
pressure monitors too so you really know your cardio system
is doing well.

OK, I think that gives me motivation to not even think about
drink today, thanks!

Hi classmates. Day 18 check in.

Feeling a bit fresher today. Energy levels are slowly on the rise and digestion has improved significantly.

I always forget how good it feels to have a stomach that doesn't churn like a washing machine when I eat. Also no longer falling asleep at my desk all day long.

Hello to all the newcomers. July is the month of change! Well it can be if you want.

Night all.

Day 14 still, things are going pretty good so far although I'm well aware things can change in an instant. I fell off my motorbike earlier and I'm glad it didn't tempt me to drink afterwards, I would've used that as an excuse to drink in the past.

I wouldn't say I'm athletic. I do run regularly and have for quite a while. It's pretty counterproductive to binge drink pretty much every day and exercise. I came to the realization that I had to either get healthy or just be a full time alcoholic. Seems like such an obvious decision - but I had been trying to do both for quite awhile.

But yeah - my blood pressure had been consistently going up and was a big reason for my decision to quit.

When my blood pressure was really high, I could see pulse through the veins in my neck and wrists - even when sitting calmly.

I do feel so much better when my heart rate and BP is down in the normal range. Gotta embrace this feeling to keep motivation.

BobLob -

That's exactly my experience - such a direct connection between
your cardio system and how much you drink. And I think the BP too.

A few weeks ago when I relapsed, ate BBQ, cheese, wine, etc.,
it spiked up consistently up to 63/64 . . . directly into heart attack
BP range.

Not
Worth
It!!!

Day 12.

Really struggled at work again yesterday. I really had to fight to make it through the night.

I'm failing to see the benefits of being sober at present. At 12 days I don't feel particularly different in the mornings. My bloat is a long I feel and I'm still exhausted at work.

I'm a creature of habit and my habit at present is not drinking so I'll persevere but I need to see some benefits asap.

So I'm struggling badly as I enter the danger zone of the end of week/weekend.

Hi fellow Julyers. Just completed day three. Had a few heated conversations with Mr AV but overall not a bad day. But a bit worried about tomorrow. The fourth day seems to be the worse for withdrawal plus it will be the longest I've been without alcohol for well over a year. I've got a full day of quality activities booked with the kids, kinder park, go karts and high quality American fast food! But in the evening my wife will be gone five hours picking her cousins up from the airport. Traditionally a 'the cat's away, the mouse will get busy with the booze scenario' for me. Looks like Mr AV and I will be having a few conversations tomorrow.

Thanks for all your posts, lets keep being sober!

Hope the bike is ok. Oh and you of course! Went for a ride on mine today for a couple of hours, sweltering day, high twenties. Got home and would normally have gone straight to the fridge for a cold one. I didn't because I've hardly ridden recently due to being too hung over in the morning and by the time I've been sober enough to ride the next beer was a more attractive proposition.
