Morning everyone! Whew!!! Yesterday was LONG with all my doctor appts! Then came home and took a 4 hour nap, woke up, got carryout for dinner & went back to bed. Nothing big planned today other than softball & dinner. Have a great day everyone!

Morning!! Happy July and Happy Birthday Canada!!

Today officially starts my vacation. We are spending it on Cape Cod. A nice change of scenery. Drinking is HUGE out here though, so have to be extra good. I downloaded the audio version of Drinking: A Love Story and have started listening to that.

PJ, I hope you get some sleep!

Sam, I once worked with a lady named Cynthia. She told me her husband used to sing "O Canada" to her and substitute Cynthia for Canada. So your national anthem is forever ruined for me. Sorry about that.

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Good morning!!

Got off of work early yesterday. Went to Memorial for my friend that died earlier in the week. I attended a wake on Thursday. Both were suicide victims. Very sad.

Today will be busy. Grass cutting. BBQ and promise of a visit from Sophia!

Have a great day class!!

Day 37. Prime number!

Did not sleep well at all last night. Perhaps drinking a gigantic Coke from Wendy's after midnight was not a smart idea. Still better than other things I've drank after midnight.

Off work today. No plans. I haven't even started any starting fluid as I may try to catch a little more sleep after this. Only reason I'm even up right now is I woke up for a minute and decided to go ahead and pay my rent real quick.

Have a nice day at work, Purps. I was also awake at four am unfortunately.

Happy Canada Day, Sam. Canada looks much better for its age than some other nearby countries that I won't name because talking politics is not a good idea here.

I'm pretty sure 4 hours is not a nap but just plain going to bed, KiKi.

Oh hey, it's the first of the month, Applekat! I think I said I'd do an emoticon for you on the first of every month if we were both sober. Hmm...which one to go with today? Congrats on our continued sobriety! Can't wait until August 1 to do this again.

Glad you checked in first thing, BBG.

42 hours? Yikes, Phoenix. Hope you get some good sleep soon. Sorry you're hurting right now.

Cape Cod is the only place I've actually stood in the ocean unless the Gulf of Mexico also counts, MITA. It was wet, much as I expected. Have a great first day of vacation! And the Cynthia trick could also work for "The Star Spangled Banner." O Cynthia, can you see/by the dawn's early light

So sorry for your losses, Bobbie. Enjoy Sophia time.

One of you people with a class list please post it at some point today so I can start bothering some folks who haven't checked in the past few days. Thanks in advance!

I'm not going to drink today. I don't do that anymore.

THE BEST FOR TODAY
The principles we have set down are guides to progress.
— ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, p. 60
Just as a sculptor will use different tools to achieve desired effects in creating a work of art, in Alcoholics Anonymous the Twelve Steps are used to bring about results in my own life. I do not overwhelm myself with life's problems, and how much more work needs to be done. I let myself be comforted in knowing that my life is now in the hands of my Higher Power, a master craftsman who is shaping each part of my life into a unique work of art. By working my program I can be satisfied, knowing that "in doing the best that we can for today, we are doing all that God asks of us."

Thanks for the list, Bobbie. Some of you people on it can consider yourself warned: You're gonna get bothered by me at some point today.

Enjoy your day, Bobbie.

Didn't go back to bed. Instead went to the Friends of the Library bookstore. Super excited about one purchase in particular. Just ate a spicy red steak burrito, now it's time for an early nap, I think.

Just hauled in the last couple of weeks worth of book purchases that I've been too lazy to bring in from the car. (What? Books are heavy!) I may have a problem. I'd say it's a new addiction but I was buying too many books way before I started drinking.

In case it's hard to tell from the picture, those two main bags are HUGE. I'm guessing each has 25 or so books in them.

Emoticons scare me, AppleK. Had to start out with a timid one.

BTW- fellow March people...I had my watch engraved on the back, another symbolic gesture as well as ID if stole. I chose the inscription with care..and the layout.
Upon some significant thought on hid sobriety as aas newbie, my sponsor had an AA related tatt. put into his upper arm- on his elderly, wrinkled arm.

The top half of the back of the ring has one word printed, following the curve in capitals.
Below the central manufacturer's marks in the lower half circle, is one initial, large font in a cursive style.

having a relaxing day here so far. Eat, pool, audiobook, nap, eat more.

I like that inscription PJ. Hopefully the watch won't get stolen! I have 2 watches. One that my son bought for me and another he helped me pick out. He's a real watch guy. - can talk watchy stuff with the people in the fancy watch shops. Seems like a good hobby.
