Hi everyone,
I'm still sober but haven't been around too much. Feeling very down but unable to share much because I'm still worried my ex could be reading.

Hope you're all doing well. I miss you.
AL

Hey AL! Thanks for checking in. Glad to see you are still sober ~ it sucks about not knowing who could be reading. I worry about that sometimes as well. Stop by when you can; we've missed you too!

Glad you were able to check in, AutumnL, and glad to hear you're not drinking. Totally understand the worry about the ex reading. Remember that every single one of us is available via private message if you ever need someone to talk to.

Day 42 is in the books. That's six weeks straight without a drink. This is probably the first time I've gone this long where I've had pretty regular cravings/thoughts of drinking during this whole time period. Usually if I can get past the 10-14 day mark without drinking, I don't have those thoughts much or at all and think everything is good until, wham, it isn't and I'm totally unprepared on how to deal with them. So I'm actually kinda glad they've been coming regularly this time. It shows me that I really don't have to drink. Even if I want to. Even if my addiction is begging for it. No matter what.

Heading to bed. Thanks for being here today. You Aussies try not to make too much noise while we're asleep.

Home from my home group. Tonight was my sponsor's 34th Sober birthday. It was cool. We had a good mtg tonight.

Good night everyone. Really glad you're back Pelagic. Glad you checked in Autumn.

Sweet dreams, guys.

Well done on six weeks, Casey! (I know how much you love the smilies!!! )

I'm trying to stay up a little later, so I'll be around for a while.....maybe if I sleep in through startin' fluid time and go straight to my appointment....we'll see.....

Practicing some Illustrator exercises - this pen tool is pretty finicky! Mom was showing me some tips the other day; I said it had been a while since I've worked on this stuff and she said: "It's not like riding a bike. If you don't use it, you'll lose it"

I wonder if the same applies here with recovery.....

Great work on 6 weeks Casey.
Back to the drawing board for me. Drank last night...stupidly. So reset the clock to Day 1 for me. I'm going to have to revisit how I tackle my hubby bringing alcohol into the house and drinking.

He has bourbon occasionally and doesn't drink often. I feel bad saying no alcohol in the house because I'm the one with the problem. I almost made it to 4 months with him still drinking and having alcohol in the house occasionally. The past few weekends though I have asked him not to drink around me or have it in the fridge because I've been craving a drink. I'll talk to him tonight and see if he has any ideas.

Had my revoew with the big boss of the recovery program this morning. All good- vewy, vewy good matter of. Move to new abode on Aug 1. Organised contents insurance, a dental appointment, cooked a week's worth of meals and researched some durable, portable out door tables- to use as art tables/computer desk in new unit. Went to a meeting, the topic was character defects. The first half of the meeting was people getting resentful- at the reasons why they think they have character defects...namely their partners.
One guy said whren he was drunk he was angry and would hit people. T

..(posted! did not click on post)

Then this guy said he now knew sobriety was the most important and quoted verbatim big book stuff- and said if anyone challenged his recovery- he would get angry and would hit them. He has been sober 5 days. Another guy mentioned over and over when marriage broke down saw it as a waste of years spent. And yes- they need time. However I do know b/s when I hear it. Have been in amongst the 'crowd' for 18 months now.
So productive day, but not a peaceful one. Rang faceless govt- as , oh crap- the usual, 90 minutes on hold, and had been put through to the wrong department. 'Student loans' instead of 'disability' enquiries. That is 5 hours on hold over 10 days.

Morning all!!

AL - great to see you!!

Bobbie - 34 years sober is amazing!! Wow!

Mish - glad you're here with us. Time to change things up and keep moving forward...sounds like you got it covered though ❤️❤️

Purplrks - good luck with your apppintment this morning. Maybe since you're already there and they have all the needles and stuff you can ask for a permanent caffeine drip to be inserted? Just a thought

Casey - congrats on six weeks!!

PJ - August 1st is so close!! Remember that we are here for you always. Hugs

MITA - your food sounds a whole lot better than mine. Lol. Last night DH decided that he couldn't do it anymore and had a burger, fries and some pie. I said it didn't bother me (lies) but I really wanted to smack him (not for real...okay maybe a little for real)

Hi Dee!!

Well I am off to work. Meh. Off tomorrow though so not so bad. Happy Friday!!

P.S. Tomorrow I will work on Casey's new avatar...I'm open to suggestions!!

34 years is impressive. I had coffee yesterday with an older cousin of mine that I don't see very often. He has been sober for over 40 years. He still goes to meetings. He says he became a drunk when he was 17. He feels very fortunate to have found sobriety by his mid-20's. It was pretty cool to hear that.
