Sounds great tootiesdad. I'm currently snuggling on my mum's bed with the girls watching Billy Elliot. Heaven! This is the kind of thing I love I'm a simple soul......

Wishing all of you a great weekend.
Lovely to hear from you Sim.

I loved "Billy Elliot"! I'm about due to rewatch that one...

My favorite way to unwind before bed is reading; I went a very long time, while drinking myself to sleep, when it was pretty pointless to try and read a book! Now I'm all excited to visit the local library regularly for big fat hard-cover novels to get lost in. I get anxious when I'm about to "run out of book" the way I used to worry about running out of booze! That idea, right there, makes me very happy...

Never going back!

Happy Tuesday, Mayfly friends...

I'm with you on that Arp - I am getting into mediation and the Gaia app/channel before bed...

Man, that was a close call...

No, not close to drinking: this thread was getting close to the bottom of the front page! OMG!

There; fixed that for you...

Have a good and sober Wednesday, Mayflies. yEr fRIenD Arp

Hey Arp!
How is everyone doing? Back home now so I'm quite busy getting washing etc sorted out. My silly car is in the garage again Ugh! Another £400 bill I reckon. That'd have sent me straight down to a cheap wine emporium 4 months ago. Didn't take much......
The summer break does get me thinking. It's a milestone each year and for once I'm determined to make it memorable for the right reasons. I shudder looking back at my behaviour. It almost seems like a bad dream. All I can do now is keep going and create new nice memories..... .
Have a great day Mayflies ❤❤❤

I used to read a lot of fiction and wish I could get back into it. I love books. My dad used to be in a book club and my mum still has all these beautiful hardback books. It may sound weird but I love the smell when you go into a book shop or a library.
Nothing much going on.... my boss is going on a 2 week vaca :-) next week.
The weather here is wet, even the dog doesn't want to go out.

One of my favorite films is The Green Mile. I also like Billie Elliot, it's a great story. Now I'm trying to picture Arp in Swan Lake

Good night and a sober Thursday for you all.

Hi Sim xx

Oh dear God, don't do it, Elke! You'll hurt yourself...

Jo: I never saw the film 'About a Boy,' but American television ran a fairly successful sitcom for a couple of years awhile back, based on that movie. Minnie Driver was in it, and I watched it, and enjoyed it. I'd guess that most of us can relate, in some manner, to being the weird kid that nobody understands. Definitely a major theme of both of your 'mushy movie' choices!

I really do love my library visits; I feel like a fat kid in a bakery when I'm there...

Libraries in the UK are slowly dying out sadly. Big ones are fine but in our village we had a great little library which closed down. The community now runs a kind of book exchange library thing now.....in the local pub of all places!!!!!
Bless them it's a good idea and I've donated a lot of books aswell as borrowing but I make sure I take my daughter with me just in case......Jeez bloody booze gets everywhere!
I've ordered a couple of books from Amazon for next week. My girls are going on holiday with their dad for 10 days on the 21st so I'm getting stuff in to do on an evening. It'll be a challenge for sure.......bf working 2pm to 10pm shift too so I'll be alone. I'm dreading it to be honest so I'll be camping out on SR a lot too. I really want to keep going no matter what!
Night night all

You're never alone on SR! We're everywhere...

I know you dread the "empty house" syndrome. Some of my longest relapses started during short periods when I didn't have to work, had few responsibilities, and too much free time. The sick AV thought would creep into my head: "I could get drunk, and nobody would know!"

Except...I would know; and if I got away with it once, I could get away with it again...and again...until soon enough, everybody knew! Grossness and misery soon to follow...

Hang out with us while your boyfriend is working!

Love and stuff,
Arp

Yes, she's been back. Smooth sailing for me once more. She's going away in December, and I caught myself yesterday already thinking 'hmmm...' - that's the true test for me.
