One Year & Over Part 51
For the most part, yesterday was just a normal summer Friday. Then I got a phone call from a co-worker about 7:30pm. Turns out my boss's wife was in a terrible parasailing accident and had to be rushed to the emergency ward of the big Milwaukee hospital (which is 120 miles south of where the accident occurred). I was with the immediate family at the hospital until close to midnight. She's nearly 80 years old and she injured her spine and broke several bones (her arm and pelvis mainly). She also suffered an internal injury to her aorta. It's pretty much a miracle that she even survived. When we saw her last night, she was conscious and thankfully is able to move her arms and legs (so hopefully no permanent paralysis). She has several surgeries scheduled for today. My boss is pretty much in shock as are the rest of us. His wife (Fran) has always treated me like family and we all hope and pray that she will recover from this devastating accident.
FBL sending healing thoughts to Fran. I am so glad you can be there for your boss to offer emotional support. Was I the only one who thought 'what a woman, nearly 80 and still Parasailing?' It sounds like Fran knows how to live and has the kind of fight that will pull her through. X
Got the word that Fran came thru her spinal fusion surgery with flying colors! Man, this is one tough lady! She still has a long road to recovery ahead, but she's a fighter for sure.

FBL - my thoughts are with you and your friend Fran
Toots - I knew you would notice my error - lol! The wedding was in Cambridge, so not a 1400 mile round trip, but a nearly 800 mile round trip - goodness knows what I was thinking Everything went super well with no untoward outbreaks of emotions from anyone - the venue was super quirky and it really was a lovely event. I am glad we were invited and glad we went. However, I am glad we are now home (even if it is about 10 degrees C colder up here!)
