So if you were wearing underpants over trousers, would you be an Undie-Over-Undie-With-Undies-Over????

Toots- I haven't had enough coffee to try to figure that one out! lol.

Kopfan- I hope you had a nice evening at the beach! You need a tent.

SandyO- you sound really good. Thanks for your post. Isn't it amazing what a few months sober will do to your mindset!

Helen- you have really been productive! I am sure it feels great to get started on the spring cleaning.

JCNY- welcome to the thread!!

Nothing new to report here. It is going to be a beautiful day. Sunny and in the 80's.

I took the dogs along the beach at 4.30am and then watched the sunrise on a beautiful clear morning. Perfect.

Went to McDonald's for breakfast at 6 am!

Then we went and sat in a secluded spot by the estuary and watched the tide go out for a couple of hours. Sitting mostly in silence and enjoying the moment.

There is so much pleasure to be gained by being sober, but only if you are prepared to make the effort and seek it out. I could have used the petrol money to get drunk and missed it all.

Drinking is a poor man's enjoyment, in mind, body and spirit.

Some fantastic posts here recently - thank you so much, everyone (and hi to newbies!).

I'm not feeling any urge to drink at all - but I'm sure I have my pregnancy to thank for that! I hope to keep reading here throughout my pregnancy and beyond, so that if the AV creeps up on me in the months / years to come, I will have some good tools to combat it. Feeling OK generally, but VERY tired and not sleeping particularly well! Fortunately, my headaches have gone away - think they were largely caffeine withdrawal.

I've never been one with much of a sweet tooth, always gravitating to salty snacks instead. Since quitting drinking my sweet tooth has gone crazy! It's now over six months and I'm still craving sweet things every day. Has anyone else experienced this? For anyone that has got past it, how long did it take for you?

Off to go bake some cookies

After about three months, HelenofTroy, my sweet tooth was subsiding and I did start to loose a little weight. But then in April, or about 5 1/2 months I started craving chocolate. It was also a very stressful period, so I chalked it up to stress eating. The stress is better and my chocolate intake has declined to match, but I still have my secret stash that I dip into a few times a day.

Toots- why would anyone want to wear undies over their clothes? Over-unders- do when all is over might be under the radar. Speedo's here are sometimes called 'budige smugglers'- see what you can do with that.
SWEET TOOTH..hmmm. Some one the meetings I go to have boot camp recovery rehab people- no phones, ciggies, or biscuits. One bloke waited until the 'bus' was being filed into- and ducked back into the kitchen to stuff his pockets with sugary heaven. Very common. I of course do not stuff my pockets- that is what the undies are for....

Budgie smugglers? Thought they were called a banana hammock??

Helen, the craving of sugars is not unexpected. You might well not have sweet tooth but there are sugars in alcohol so you were feeding two addictions. I haven't worried too much about my sweet tooth, just ensure I do enough exercise to compensate for it!

Morning Everyone!

Yep, I just about had my sugar craving under control at nine months - that was the point at which I felt I was normal again!

Like Toots said - exercise is the key to maintaining/losing weight.

Have a great day everyone!

Helen- I have been indulging in sugar too. I never ate too many sweets before but now I really love caramel corn etc. lol. If I don't buy it then it isn't an issue. So I only buy a limited amount. it isn't easy!

I really like pudding cups, hot chocolate, or chocolate chip granola bars. They all have about 90 calories. It is better then buying caramel corn that has 500 calories per box. I'll eat the whole box easily!

Welcome, PC-don't I know you from somewhere!

Kopfan,

I appreciate your posts, my AV has been quite active lately and hearing your story about how much happier you are on the sober side of life has encouraged me to keep on despite the AV. Thanks alot!

Take care everybody!

The only way to live a happier life Alcohol-free is to starve that AV monster out of existence until he crawls away into the dark recesses of your mind and withers into a shadow of the monster he became.

I started feeding him again and quickly realised my mistake. DO NOT FEED THE AV. It makes everything worse and nothing better.

Luckily I was able to put him back in his cage before he did any real damage. Throwing away the key is the ONLY answer.

Drinking is an excuse not to live life to your full potential.

Have a great day everyone!
