Hello Marchers! Well that was a quiet week. Please let us know you're getting on, Aussie and Lofty. Rooting for you both!

So I know you will all read about the cold temps here on SR in the states over the next couple days but I have to brag about ours, too. lol Tomorrow will be a high of -23F wind chill (feel like temp) which is -30 C. For a HIGH! lol Our low looks like it'll be a feel like temp of -33F which is -36 C. Boy that math seems wonky but according to the Fahrenheit to Celcius calculator, that's right! Anyway, it's freakin freezing. I'm not sure Aussie would even want these temps! haha

Love you guys..stay strong.

Day 12 today

The time is just flying by. I’ve been sleeping a lot better and feel better rested than I have in a while. I gave up my ADHD med at the same time, and its been a good thing. Still have patches of fog, but feeling more sane each day. Trying to cut down on the nicotine gum as well, but not going cold turkey there. Met with the doc today about getting my shoulder repaired today. It was a wake up to see how dark my lungs are on x-rays today. A shot in the arm to stay away from the cigs. Meeting the endodontist tomorrow about a long-standing tooth infection tomorrow. It feels good to be focused on health again. Feeling hints of hope again after a long spell of lethargy. Also spending time in morning devotion and have kept up with my NY committment to read the Bible in a year. If we think we have problems, just read Genesis and Exodus. Whew!

We flirted with 0 F today, but nothing like you have Mirage. I hear there are records being set.

Getting things done with increasing energy and lots of extra time not drinking. That feels good too.

I would take Aussie weather any day over this bitter cold.

Take care,
Lofty

Glad to hear you're on the right track! Yeah, it's just brutal here. We've been asked to turn our thermostats down to 65 and cut back on electricity cuz there was a fire at a gas supply place and apparently the energy companies are worried about having enough energy. 65 isn't a big deal when it's 30 outside, but when it's -30, it feels a lot colder! Work was cancelled cuz they have no heat so I'm home with the kiddo who has had 3 days off this week. Started a fire. It's sunny and pretty, tho! I probably won't go outside till tomorrow.

Hang in there, mirage. I think its supposed to thaw next week, at least here. They are talking 50s which is a 60 degree swing. Hope you dont run out of energy! Reminds me of a movie about nuclear winter in the midwest. Dont recall the title.

Well hello again! I've had quite the week or so. I won't bore you with details other than to say it ended up with me taken by ambulance to the hospital cuz of a brutal stomach flu. Stayed a couple days getting fluids via IV. I'm still recovering. lol What a nightmare. However...I'm on the mend and all is well. I shall survive!

Hope my Marchers are doing ok, especially the ones early in their sobriety. Hope you are well, Dee! xo

I hope that flu bug is over for you now, mirage. It sounds bad. I’m sure it didnt help with the whacky weather we’ve had, and the dry air.

I’ve been struggling with numb, tingling hands and fingers. Not sure the cause but have narrowed it to one or more of many, including alcoholic peripheral neuropathy. I made it 2 weeks and broke down. It was during those weeks I noticed it. I also have a jacked up shoulder that will likely need surgery next month. It may be pinching nerves to cause this numbness. Or it could be the nicotine lozenges and gum I’ve been on for years. I stopped that 4 days ago and its helped a little. Getting back on the wagon soon.

It could be many things but I think stopping drinking would be even more beneficial than stopping the gum Lofty

I'm still not well, it's been a crazy Feb.

Sorry to hear about your hands, Lofty. Tingling and numbness are always unsettling. I'm no doctor but I bet it has to do with your shoulder. Get off that gum and ON that bus!! You can do it!

Aussie? How you doin?

Checking in
glad to see you Lofty!!!!

my life is really complicated these days so I haven't been around.
still sober Day 52.

Dee we haven't had barely a drop of rain , lots of promise from the cyclone but all we got was a lot of wind. Just put up a new colour bond fence and part of that was bent .

I hop your feeling better Mirage.

Love to all.

Hey! Well I ended up in the ER and a hospital stay for 4 days. Diverticulitis (inflamed, infected part of the colon). I'm home now and on antibiotics and a specific diet for 2 weeks. Holy sh**, this has been a rough 5 weeks! I'm weak, tired, 13 lbs lighter, but recovering. Thanks for asking!

Hope you all are well. Good job staying sober, Aus. xo

Sorry to hear you’ve been ailing, mirage. Get better soon! My wife has diverticulitis and flare ups really hurt her.
Today will be Day 1 again. My brother was in town this weekend and it was just another huge drunkfest. I am really over them, and did my best to resist it but to no avail. My body just cant take this behavior any longer. It’s time for me to quit and regain my health, well-being and happiness.
