Class of January 2017 Support Thread Part 5
Day 104,
NACN – Massive congrats on your 100 days!!! And happy belated to your son
MrMcTell – Glad to hear the interview went well! I also thought i’d stop counting after 100, but to be honest it’s become a daily ritual and part of my recovery so I figure i’ll stick with it
Cute – Only a few more days till your 90!!!!! Woot!!!
DLB – Spring is in full swing here too and I find myself starting to think about patio season, bbq’s, etc…..always temptation/ triggers for me. Luckily I’m working on a deadline this week and even if I wanted to, wouldn’t have the time. Being busy really is a blessing sometimes.
J9 – I’m sure the hair looks great I agree with being grateful to be sober. Sometimes I have pity parties, but overall life is SO much better.
Not sure about you all, but I find myself being acutely aware of alcoholism since being sober. I was also at the salon about a month into this journey and a woman was talking about someone she knew who recently passed away and how they battled with alcohol. These kinds of stories keep popping up out of nowhere in my life lately in strange situations. I’m sure they always were there, and it’s because previously as soon as someone mentioned alcohol abuse i was covering my ears and going “la la la” in denial, but interesting all the same.
MrMcTell - Hope you feel better!
Hope you all are enjoying a lovely sober Good Friday

Day 105.
A very quick check-in as I am running out the door any second.
Like you J9 and Ina , I seems to be more open to hearing stories about people who are battling what we are. I haven't told anyone what I am doing yet. other than you all. That said, people seem to know by the physical change and the fact I never socialise any more. I tend to not speak about stuff that i should do.
I realise how lucky we are to have this little group. It definitely helps me keep on track as I feel accountable. Not just to myself and loved ones but you guys too. We have come a long way.
Have a wonderful, happy, healthy and sober day classmates

So...much...chocolate...
I am writing at almost 2:00 AM my time. Had a busy night of learning lines for tomorrow, getting ready for Easter and filling baskets and hiding eggs.
Today when I got home from rehearsal, I REALLY wanted a beer. It was a beautiful evening, my husband and son were playing catch in the backyard, and it is the night before a holiday. I didn't expect to have such a strong craving, but I guess when do we ever expect it?
So, I compensated by allowing myself as much of the Easter candy I wanted! I am usually a pretty healthy eater, so this was unusual for me, but I certainly went for it! I will admit that I have a bit of a stomach ache now, but at least it got me through the craving.
I'm pretty tired right now, so I'm headed to bed, but I wanted to check in here. I hope everyone who celebrates has a wonderful, safe, sober Easter.

Day 106.
Well done NACN. I am sure when you wake the next day, hangover free, still on course, you will feel even better.
I agree about the spring weather and the thought of drinking in the sun being a trigger. I am not sure who in this group first coined the expression, but I play the tape forward, and know what "one drink in the sun" turns into. For me, anyway.
To be honest, home-made lemon iced tea sounds even better anyway, so maybe I will make up a batch today. I think being creative with summer beverages might be the key this spring/summer.
Good luck today for whatever you were learning lines for. I am sure you are enjoying so much more clarity and focus being free from booze.
My day is about to begin with a bike ride. Sundays seem to be all about resetting for the work week and going to bed early.
Have a healthy, happy and sober sunny Sunday, Januarians. One more day.

Good morning and Happy Easter!...Have been flying solo for the last 7 days with hubby away on a golf trip with his buddies so it's just me and the kids celebrating today. I have been really struggling this weekend. The desire to drink has been overwhelming. I think it's the loneliness as I didn't really make any plans with family or friends thinking it would be a good time to get caught up on work. Oh well, just have to make it through one more day and back to routine. Have a good one!
Day 106
Just a quick check in.
Well, I couldn't sleep last night at all and didn't fall asleep til 6:30 this morning and then slept the whole day! Silver lining though, I live across from a Polish church and saw a beautiful ceremony this morning. At 5:30 am people started piling into the church and then at 6am they came out and were singing and walking around the block. I googled and found out it's called:
"Rezurekcja. The joyous Easter morning Mass at daybreak when church bells ring out and explosions resound to commemorate the bright flash and thunderous rumble heard when Christ rose from the dead. Before the Mass begins, a festive procession with the Blessed Sacrament carried beneath a canopy thrice encircles the church. Janging handbells are vigorously shaken by altarboys, the air is filled with incense and the faithful raise their voices heavenward in a triumphant rendering of age-old Easter hymns."
I've lived across from this church for 9 years and this is the first time I ever saw it. Just another beautiful experience sobriety has brought me
J9NoWine – You've got today!! Sending strength and well wishes your way!!
Happy Easter everyone!

Ina- the very fact people come together to celebrate anything they believe in - in a positive way is great.
J-No (could not resist!) good for you. I think sometimes we all get ahead of ourselves in waiting for life to get better, when it is the everyday stuff that matters. Making tomorrow's memories from positive experiences- today.

Day 107
That is a lovely ceremony, Ina. 5:30 am on a long Easter weekend and you get to finally witness it. So nice.
The beginning of a new week. No exercise for me today but still off to a good start. I am glad I am hangover free and didn't slip this weekend. I also had to fend off my AV a few times, wanting to feel like a "normal person" again, enjoying alcohol in the sun.
It wasn't too bad, between checking posts on SR and working through what was really going on, and "playing the tape forward", I navigated through the days.
J9, Well done getting through your long weekend also, despite the challenges.
Hope my fellow Januaraians fared as well. Have a healthy, sober and happy week .
