Thank you Dee and congrats to shotgun Sim :scoregood

Hi Mayflies :)
Having a rough day today. Woke up with a sudden onset of vision loss in my right eye this a.m. It resolved itself within 10 minutes but it left me a little shaken. Saw a retinal specialist at work.....have a small retinal hemorrhage in that eye and the episode was diagnosed as an ischemic optic stroke (blocked blood flow to the optic nerve resulting in permanent or temporary blindness) of unknown etiology. Basically after the full monty he said my eyes are fine (sans hemorrhage)....but something else isn't. He suggested I schedule with my family dr. in a timely fashion for referrals. I see her on Friday. I follow-up with him in 2 weeks on the hemorrhage.
I'm worried, he's forwarding testing recommendations to her but would not review them with me when I asked him to elaborate. That's not like him. Prayers welcomed.
On the upside, none of this wants to make me drink. It makes me want to continue consulting Dr. Google. Dr. Google is giving me nothing helpful to my mental state so I shall discontinue use, take 2 aspirin, and see my doctor Friday morning. :headbange

Dee74 01-24-2017 07:42 PM

I had something similar recently. It resolved itself without the need for any treatment, so I hope that all will be well for you too Sim.

They're just being thorough :)

Best wishes,

D

Simplicity4114 01-25-2017 02:40 AM

Thank you so much for sharing that with me Dee! I've never heard of this before with it not being directly associated with eye emergency so to hear that someone else experienced something similar without further problems is so reassuring! :grouphug: And thank you for all you do for all of us here on SR also (and for the new thread....sorry bout that-got too caught up in calling "shotgun"!) :thanks

Dee74 01-25-2017 02:49 AM

Not a problem simplicity :)

Elke516 01-25-2017 02:57 PM

Oh (((Sim))) sweetheart, you must have had a scare, dear me :grouphug:
You're in my prayers poppet, thinking of you.

Try to keep cool if you can -- your eyes are fine now, you're getting it checked out and you're not drinking = you'll be fine :grouphug:

Lots of love Sim xxx

Simplicity4114 01-25-2017 05:57 PM

Thanks Elke :grouphug: I'm feeling somewhat better today. Docs at work scheduled me for a vision field test tomorrow afternoon. Just going to keep plodding along and wait & see (no pun intended) what happens :)
In other news, I have my 2nd counseling appt. scheduled for tomorrow evening. I feel ready to pursue this endeavor wholeheartedly......that's a first for me ;)
Never, ever, ever before have I felt ready to investigate the mysteries of Sim. No, No, No :headbange Historically, I've been more of a , "Just brush that **** under the rug and put a pretty smile on that face, shot of vodka with a vodka chaser girl". Not no more.....I know how that story ends.
On that note, still no thoughts of drinking-I'm slightly suspicious of what trick my AV is trying to pull here......normally this kind of stuff has me crawling the walls but for the moment I'm enjoying the break from its whining.
Hope everyone is doing well and has a Happy Thursday! :grouphug:

PhoenixJ 01-25-2017 06:09 PM

Sim- I had to bump my shotgun too. Just threading my way through. Hope all is okay with you.
Prayers to all.

Simplicity4114 01-26-2017 02:05 PM

Just like that the AV is alive and well. Think it's just stress.....optical tech told me visual field test showed some "fuzzy" areas. Pushing that out of my mind till a doc reviews the results and goes over them with me. That'll probably happen sometime tomorrow.
My best friend's last day is tomorrow :( We had her goodbye party today and that's got me in a little funk. I'm not worried about losing our friendship (we're friends that got lucky enough to work together) but the place just won't be the same without her spunk and sass everyday, day in and day out. We're like an old married couple-lol.
Counseling appointment in an hour.....feeling less than thrilled but I think its just stress.

Simplicity4114 01-27-2017 12:32 PM

Av is back in check today. Passed visual field test with flying colors.....glad I didn't waste a whole lot of time worrying about it. Saw Dr. this afternoon and I'm going for blood work tomorrow for everything under the sun. She is also scheduling me for an ultrasound of my carotids. Phase 1 underway.
Counseling went alright last night. I'm ready to get to the meat of it already, blurt out my life story and get it behind me but she wants to move through things slowly making sure I'm processing things well one step at a time and not overwhelming myself. Maintaining my sobriety is her main concern, so I will follow her lead, she's the professional.
I'm so tired these days......

Elke516 01-27-2017 12:38 PM

Happy Friday evening everyone, apologies for my brief absence. We had high winds here last night and the broadband was on stop. So I got 8 hours of sleep instead of 5. Felt good too.

Hey Sim, good to hear that you enjoyed your counselling session and you're working on your mysteries ;-). Glad you're getting yourself checked out. I had to google carotids...good luck with the ultrasound.

Speaking of ultrasound on a different subject, we had our sheep scanned a couple of days ago and expecting 4 sets of triplets and about 250 twins and singles. April will be a busy month but it's so nice to have all these lambs.

Our heat pump was delivered today so with a bit of luck we will have heating and hot water....that is if the plumber will come along and install it, how long is a piece of string...
It gives me hope that we might move in before x-mas, dare I say it, this year LOL. It's only taken 3 years eeeeekkkkk

Dee74 01-27-2017 02:41 PM

Hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Simplicity4114 01-28-2017 11:32 AM

Happy Saturday everyone! Lots of housecleaning to catch up on. Blah. Dinner with the folk tonight-should be a good time. Wishing everyone a good weekend :)

Elke516 01-28-2017 03:56 PM

Thank you Sim and Dee, you have a great weekend to .

Simplicity4114 01-29-2017 06:08 AM

Been up since 0430. Eye snapped open and brain was off and running.....ugh. I need an off switch installed. At least I'm sober. These days, I don't even think it's a drink that I want, but rather to just check out mentally. Adulting does not come naturally to me and frankly it requires a lot of work. Half the time I feel like I'm just spinning my wheels. I'm guessing more than likely it's that way for everyone....no one's born with an instinct to act responsibly and or a innate desire to take ownership for their emotional growth or the energy they choose to put out into the world. Alright, thinking that through has helped me to stop feeling sorry for myself :) See what I mean...lots of mental energy required to power this noggin. :lmao
Hope everyone is well :grouphug:

Elke516 01-29-2017 12:59 PM

Oh Sim, please don't beat yourself up sweetheart. We can only try the best we can and you certainly do! Sending you a virtual ((((hug)))).

We finally filled up a land drain we dug out at x-mas. It was mostly delayed due to wet weather and we couldn't do anything. Geepers we had to shovel 4 tonnes of pebbles by hand as it was to wait for the digger. I'll sleep well tonight!

Wishing you all a good and sober week.

Elke516 01-29-2017 01:12 PM

I know someone who suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which is a genetic disorder where the joints dislocated on regular basis. The poor girl is only 16.
Hope it's ok to ask here if anyone knows of a treatment for this condition.

Much love XXX

You go girl! Sounds like y'all have quite the project going on! Hope you got the heat pump installed sans issues and you slept like a baby after all that work! May I stop by and visit your little lambs when they come along? They're soooo cute!!!

I personally don't know anything about Ehlers-Danlos but I've seen surgical procedures performed to stabilize joints due to chronic dislocation. That being said, I've never seen them performed on someone so young. Most likely, due to the fact that their bones are still growing....
Has she ever been fitted for custom braces? The new generation of braces are pretty amazing. They provide comfortable stabilization while allowing ease of motion and they're pretty sleek to boot.
Praying for her. Hopefully she has a good dr. that will weigh all the options as they're appropriate and communicate them well with her & her parents. :grouphug:
