One Year & Over Part 46
Thanks for the words of support everyone. Matt used to be my grandma's paper boy back in the early 1970s. In 1975, at the age of 19, he purchased a local neighborhood tavern and when I returned to town to attend college, that's when we became good friends. He wouldn't serve me beer until I turned the then legal age of 19 in 1985. From 1985-88, I spent a lot of time there and we shared our mutual passions of music and sports. After I graduated college and moved away, I'd always make time to stop by and see him whenever I was back in town. He always said that I was in his beer drinking Hall of Fame. It was less than two weeks after I quit drinking in 2009, that I stopped by and told him that I stopped drinking for good. He was so happy and supportive. He said he'd rather see me sober and happy than drunk and miserable. He was just always so full of life and greeted all of his customers by name, no matter how long they'd been away. We would sometimes go years between visits, but we would always pick up right where we left off. I stopped by to see him last summer, but he was out of town that day. He's got a lot of people pulling for him and we're all hoping for a miracle.
Have a Terrific and/or Tolerable Tuesday, overs!

Yep, he always made sure to have plenty of soda on hand. The funny thing is, he rarely, if ever, drank himself. He used to have one shot on his birthday every year, but that was about it. He also offered to drive anybody home that had too much and needed a ride.
Great story FBL. It is a true friend that would support your desire to stop drinking. You probably paid a chunk of his mortgage monthly!
Suze, I hope today finds you in a better place.
Good luck at the doctors today Kris. Not a fun way to recover from surgery.
I'm glad the visit to your new home showed that repairs will be easier than anticipated Toots. You must be excited to retire there!
Have a better day today everyone!

OK all, just lost another long post because the security token expired.

Sorry about Matt. I answered all but don't have it in me right now to write another post save this tonight. The best and rarest friends it seems are all about us, instead of themselves.
Dee,
I am on another forum that uses the same form software and I got them to adopt some of the features you guys use here. But they never used the token expiration trick. I sure would like to see that turned off. As well, they had an auto save function that even if my computer lost power I could go back within a reasonable time say a few minutes, and then click on view AutoSaved content and then the ;lost post is there.
Thanks for the well wishes overs, will post tomorrow or sometime when I feel like posting on pins and needles again.

FBL, very sorry to hear about your friend.
Kris, I hope you feel better soon and the doctor can help.
I am trying to get physically fit for an upcoming ski trip. Body is sore all over, but it is a good, productive sore. Only a few workouts at the gym so far, but already feeling more fit and energetic. Just wish I could be this motivated when nothing special is planned. But, I know myself. Will go back to being a couch potato after my trip.

Thanks Dee,
I knew you could only pass it along, or better, tell me who to pass along some suggestions, possibly with how to switch them on and off or where to find them in the forum software's website FAQ pages.
GHD,
Boy do I know how that feels. I'm the same. Too many years after early first retirement at 45 doing nothing but 12oz curls the rest of the year, and drinking heavy on my last trip the winter of 2009/10 before I quit in Sep 2010.
Two things here as FBL will get to it. One of my rock heroes left today.

And
members can only do the things the Control Panel allows us to do.
Everything else, and everything like that, is up to the owners discretion here these days Itch - but MG can pass it on.
I dunno, I've never been logged out if I tick the remember me box when I log in.
