Class of March 2016 part 39
Hi everyone!!
Well home at last and still sober!! Woot!! The retreat was good...it was held at a country resort near here that is both beautiful and very peaceful. I would love to spend a couple days there relaxing...sadly the rooms are a little pricier than my budget will allow. Towards the end of the evening we all sat around a fire and everyone ordered cocktails....the perfect time to try out my "I don't drink"verbiage. Well it came out as more of a "I'm not drinking tonight" but no matter...it conveyed what I was trying to say and you know what...no one even batted an eye..... mission accomplished! So thank you to all of you...even though you weren't there with me...you kind of were....and the internal dialogue I had with each of you ensured that I ended up home with my sobriety intact.

Hang in there PR! I had some bad cravings last night and just had to sit them out. Hope they pass quickly.
Sam - I should sleep well tonight. Usually do after a couple of bad nights. Funny that when I had insomnia after my shoulder surgery, it would rattle me badly. Now I'm just sort of going with the ebb and flow. It sucks on those days when I'm really tired, but I know I'll get back to good sleep in due time.
Hope everyone has a good night/day. Early bedtime for me tonight!

ha ha the hag got beat by a chip!! I gave my kids some corn chips and had one myself and the craving for wine was instantly replace with a craving for queso dip!
I think the biggest reason for the craving was because I was hungry and hadn't eaten since breakfast.
Off to take a shower now. I have a crazy early morning tomorrow, gotta be out of the house with the wee one by 6am....UGH
Thanks for the encouragement!!!

I came across this little quote today and thought it was kind of cool.
In the end, she became more than what she expected.
She became the journey,
And like all journeys she did not end,
She simply changed directions and kept going
- R. M. Drake
It made me think of you, Bobbieka, but I think it's good for everyone.

Morning!
MITA - that quote is spot-on! Changing direction doesn't seems as scary as changing completely somehow. I just jotted it down in the journal as a reminder. Thanks for sharing!
PR - great job beating the hag!! I love that terminology by the way...makes me smile every time I read it
I have been really headachey lately...I think I might be drinking too much tea and not enough actual water...just installed a water reminder app so let's see if that helps.
Well off to begin the day - happy Tuesday class!!

Good morning Misfits!
MITA - Love that! Thanks for sharing.
Sam - boo on the headaches. Water, water, water! And yes, changing direction is far less scary. And more accurate to boot
Mixed bag of sleep last night, but feeling pretty good. Jamming to 21 Pilots in my headphones at work. Happy Tuesday, Marchers.

PR - way to go.
Hope everyone has a great day! Samantha - great job yesterday! We are kicking some butt, class!
Hola! Great job not falling in line for the cocktails Samantha! And to PeacefulRain for resisting that craving with chips! The HALT thing does come up with me pretty often. Lately on my diet, I get really hungry and it does make me think about maybe that alcohol would really take the edge off those hunger pangs. So what I do is just nothing. I drink my water and the pangs do go away in five minutes or so regardless. I usually snack on popcorn, but I have to lay off the stuff until my new tooth is bolted or glued in. Well, back to the grind!
Hey guys! Kiki said to tell you all she is doing well and concentrating on AA. Goat, I may have told her about your crush. Made her smile.
Snacking on popcorn as we speak, Upstairs. I eat a lot of bananas too.
CH - Happy Tuesday!

Checking in on my way home from work....still have the nagging headache and sooo exhausted...wtf I ask?!? Where is all my sobriety-infused energy??
Anyways quiet night in...maybe a walk with Charlie when I get home.
Will catch up more later. ❤❤

Hi everybody.
I'm sorry for not posting more but I just can't seem to do it when I'm drinking!
Several weeks ago I announced that I was drinking. Not to excess but on a daily basis. I just couldn't get off the merry-go-round. Not a good thing for an alcoholic!!!
Sam told me at the time to “just quit feeding it nickles”! Well I took her advice. I'm off the merry-go-round! Just one day so far but after weeks I'm soooo glad.
A new day one!
