Day 4
I've changed up my plan.
When I'm at home and I get an AV attack I have to immediately jump up and do any obvious housework or 15 mins on treadmill. Plus must then drink a pint of water.
I am going be ripped and house is will be super organised

Anyone struggling with guilt; make it go away by being best version of you now. Don't dwell .
How clean is your fridge??

Hey guys! Stopping to say welcome from March '16. SR has been a gamechanger in my life. You can do this. Can't stress enough the mantra of Dee - MAKE A PLAN. It really makes a difference.

Great job taking this step. In it to win it!

After dealing with both drink and cigs for way too long, I've come to think they are kissing cousins, meaning if one is gone, the other will yearn for it so strongly that it eventually sneaks back in and you just let it happen so you can have a little peace!

THEY BOTH GOTTA GO!

Day 3! What's an AV?

This is so odd to me - my cravings (thankfully they haven't that strong) have been to "sneak" a swig. Not pour a drink, not go to a bar, but to sneak a swig when my husband is upstairs or in the basement. Why would I crave to do the thing I was most ashamed of - sneaking booze?

Still, I'm pretty pleased that I'm at day 3!

I'm in!! Day 9 for me....sounds crazy but this is the longest stint of sobriety I've had in YEARS, and I'm 30. Been going to aa a little bit, playing the tape through, focusing on avoiding being HALT- hungry, angry, lonely, tired, and just taking the next right step. It's really hard. I drank because I was lonely, and now I'm forced to sit and feel all these feelings. I'm just going to keep going.

So guilty of this, I believe it's a sense of control for me. As I tend to let others walk all over me in so many other ways and I don't stand up for myself. I am 2 days in.

Having my first real craving. Experiencing a lot of negativity. I want to get rid of it. Better not to let it build up. This is how it starts for me. Ok, breath easy. Lets not give in already.

Hi freemeplease - purely and simply it's a support thread - if you need some support, or want to give support to others, this thread is a great place to start

welcome to you and to any other recent joiners

I really encourage everyone to post as much as they like, and post as deeply as they like too - noone wants to invade your privacy but the more insight context and detail you provide, the more likely it is others can help.

Post to others too - I found helping them helped me.

If you look back to previous pages I've posted links on dealing with cravings and making useful recovery plans - we can do this

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...-cravings.html (CarolD's tips for cravings)

making a recovery plan - the nuts and bolts of how you might get sober/clean and stay that way

I just wanted to add there are an extraordinary number of excellent videos on Youtube covering basically every aspect of alcoholism: documentaries, personal stories, hypnosis, self-affirmation, binaural beats, subliminal videos and so on. And of course, lots of excellent AA speakers.

It's def. worth exploring.

Hey everyone! Day 3 down. It was another productive day for me. Yay! I started reading Diar of an Alcoholic Housewife. Man I could have written a lot of what 've read. I'm curled up in bed getting ready to read more.

Hoping for a better nights sleep than last night. I'm an essential oil nerd so I popped a few restful blend softgels. That should help.

Stay stong class!!!

sober night #1....again

I am thankful for another sober night. Not scared of insomnia now. Alcohol is what caused it. Peace of mind to all.
