Good morning. Day 4 here. Very grateful to wake up without a hangover. Glad we can all remind each other why we're here, to kick alcohol to the curb. Have a good day everyone.

Good job no hangover bluedog! I'm doing OK, suddenly dealing with digestive upsets. Who knows what the body is dealing with in recovery. So a bit down today, but still determined. Have a great day (or hope you are having a good one, for those ahead of me in the time zone world).

Good morning everyone! I slept ok last night.

Looks like it's going to rain all day here yay! We don't get enough rain and I absolutely love rain, it makes me feel so peaceful, hence my name 😉. I think I'll make a pot of soup or chili and some bread today and just enjoy the rain with 5 or 10 pots of tea.

Have a great day everyone!

From what I understand it's Addictive Voice or Alcoholic Voice (?), basically something in your head that tries to convince you to have a drink.

It stands for "Addictive Voice".
There's a whole movement behind this (AVRT) that is some kind of opposed to the 12 steps programs.
Have a look at this post for a (long) explanation.

End of day 3 for me. Felt a bit more like myself today and the brain seemed to be spluttering back to life.

Haven't had a decent night's sleep for 3 nights. Hoping so much that tonight will be different.

Thanks for all the posts everyone.

Checking in. It seems my body is starting to wonder why I haven't been drinking. Cravings are hitting pretty hard. Figured I better say something.

Hey Bluedog. Early recovery cravings are a bitch aren't they? I had a really bad cravings day yesterday. And today I just feel worn out - physically and emotionally.

We only have to go through this phase once though (unless you are stupid like me and think that three years sobriety 'resets' your relationship with alcohol to that of a normal person).

Hang in there.

Hi all, day 1 again for me.
I let the panic overwhelm me.
I'm back though. I need to check in with myself more, I can see now that I did t have enough me time and I was too anxious

Can I join please?
Just finishing day 5 and am really struggling today. Almost had a drink tonight so checked in here first. Cravings are really bad. Have been busy all day and not thought about drinking until I came home. I know if I have a glass of wine that's it the bottle (+ more) will be gone before I know it and will be having another for breakfast 😔😔
I feel so much better in myself as well to throw it all away.
My drinking has taken on a whole new level this last 12 months or so and I badly want to get sober as I know it will only get worse.
I've been hiding wine bottles around the house drinking in the day. I'm so ashamed of myself 😔😔

Enjay, the cravings are awful. Its why so many go back to drinking, like I have so many times. Its been a tough day. I need to get out of the house, heading to a meeting, even if I just sit there and don't say anything. Hang in there everyone

Welcome all joining and hang in there fellow cravers! I will no doubt need some hand holding over the weekend. That's my usual party of one time O.o

Good day 5 though. Got me some night nurse tablets for tonight, hoping they hold the sore throat at bay just long enough to fall to sleep.

No cravings for me thankfully, but I know full well the horror. They WILL pass.
Do whatever you have to do to get through them, just please don't succumb that self destruct AV. A drink is definitely not the answer,
