Class of December 2016 Part 2
Well Chloe- all of us are convict stock here- even the New Australians 9barring terrorists). So weeze gots learnin' buts not th' ways use colononolonists have. Weeze says it's paste - so it's paste- see? 2017 here- happy one again, all.
PhoenixJ,
What does this'Yankee' know anyway...
When I lived in Melbourne for a Summer I said I was from Chicago(which I am) and they asked about Al Capone as if he was my Grandfather!!
Oh, ya, I say 'the wall' you convicts built!

Actually there's no convicts in my line at all PJ - we came out in the 1850s - 1880's.
Some criminal records after that tho... proving I'm not a snob
I do concur with the peanut paste thing tho - it's only recently it's been called peanut butter here.

Dee- it is about cultural myth. Who cares about the facts? We all have kangaroo farms. The Americans all drive caddies, eat burgers and invented everything, the Brits are still upset because they don't run 1/4 of the planet and so on. You gotta be part of the myth.

Hi! Last hour of 2016 about to start. Just an observation. I am on my 3rd day sober. No cravings tonight as a) I have committed and b) I got home late. Drinking lots of herbal tea.
Last night, my wrist tracker said 0 mins awake. I went to bed and slept straight through till morning. That makes a change from when I'd go to bed after a (very!) merry evening, wake up thirsty, stay awake for next 2 hours, hate myself, hate alcohol etc. Totally worth it to stay sober! Now I'm going to wind down and turn off all devices. First time in years that I have not stayed up till midnight on NYE. Have a sober last day of 2016. See you all next year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017 to our Australian friends!
Funny to see all the clichés about our countries.
In Canada, we say "hey" all the time, play hockey all year long and dip everything in maple syrup
PhoenixJ, you broke my koala dreams with these rough details on them the other day but I still like them!
Thanks Dee74 for letting me know that this thread will move in January.
No hangover for me tomorrow!
We can make it.
Big koala hug to all of you

Hahaha! I Love country clichés!
Am still up. Oh well. Just give a quick shout about Dry January app. It helps you keep progress, tells you how many days sober, how many calories and quid saved by not drinking. Very useful! Also little messages and ideas to stay sober.

Yeah, Chloe is a cheesehead and don't forget the beer! LOL
Just dropping in to say happy New Year to all. I am still not feeling great but better. I am heading out to pick up a birthday cake for my dog. I know, crazy dog lady. She is a big, beautiful sweet Newfoundland. I tell her every birthday they drop the ball in New York for her, LOL. So, I'll be partying with the dogs tonight.

Not sure if its just a Toronto thing, but I also noticed Hockey isn't anywhere near as big as i thought it would be. Everyone seemed far more focused on the Blue Jays baseball team (although admittedly the Maple Leafs Ice Hockey team kinda suck). I also went to one of the Ice Hockey World Cup games, and there were empty seats everywhere.
Serves me right for believing the stereotypes!

According to country clichés, I'd be saying tap of the mornin' te ye, have red hair and an obsession with potatoes. That's leaving out our renowned reputation for drinking which is fair enough in my case but I know many teetotal or barely drinkers.
And have leprechauns in the garden!!! I lived in Dingle for a while. ... what a lot of pubs!!!
