It's been a tough, stressful day today. No temptations or thoughts about drinking, but a hard day just the same. I wish I were back on the beach. But that's OK, I'll be back there some day. And God willing I'll go back sober. 24 more!!!

THONG UPDATE! I went to my psychologist appointment this morning. I noticed it was a good day. Warm, gentle sea breeze from the south. Just near the place of destination a young mum- pretty with 2 small perfect little daughters. Of course dressed in pink- but not fakey dress up, just a nice normal family doing family stuff. As they passed me the mum says to one of the daughters (about 4 years old ) 'yes that is because of your shoes'. The little girls stops in her tracks, looks at her feet and says very distinctly and assertively 'no mummy, they are not shoes- they are my thongs'. Pink of course. I smiled and enjoyed a reflective moment of how special time was spent with my kids at that age (was a 'functioning alcoholic' then).
Then I was grateful that I have the capacity to enjoy such simple pleasure at such things and see past the hell that was being an active drunk.
