Class of October 2015 Part 9
Thank you, Dee!!
I have to share with you a nice story. I often come on here and say how hard parenting is and what stresses I have with it (which is certainly true). However, there are some really nice moments at times. Like this evening....
My son (with special needs) can be really smart, sensitive and loving at times. When he saw I was in bed and not feeling well tonight, he said, "Mom, are you sick?" Then he said, "Are you going to have to take a sick day and stay home tomorrow?" I said, "I don't know T - we'll see how I'm feeling in the morning."
Then he said, "Well, it's good either way. If you're feeling good and can go to work, then that's good because you'll get work done. If you're feeling sick and need to stay home, then I get to spend more time with you (*he's on break from school*) and C (*our dog*) will get to spend more time with you and he loves that. Also, I will get to watch Sponge Bob with you if you're home."
I don't know, it was just a really nice thing for him to say. Aside from feeling sick tonight, today was a really good day. I will take it

I know the feeling! Haven't been sleeping great either. Maybe it's holiday/Christmas stress? I'm looking forward to it but I still have a lot to do before Sunday. And this damn cold/flu thing. Ugh, I feel dreadful. Going to try to take a nap now after working this morning. I'm beat!
Hi Winslow, I got really really sick and have been for the past 2-3 days. I finally feel like I'm turning the corner today. Must have been the flu. I have never felt so sick in my life! Couldn't do much except get under the covers, blow my nose, take medicine and try to feed my kids. Kind of took all of the Christmas spirit out of me but there are still a couple of days to get it back. Took my little dog to the vet today and he got all his yearly vaccines so he is tired and beat. Oh, I hope we get perky again before Christmas!! There's still time for that happy Christmasy feeling. Hope you're doing well, Winslow! p.s. No thoughts of drinking - have just been in survival mode here!
Merry Christmas, Dee! And thanks for the well wishes - you too PJ. I can safely say I'm better each day now. Had a cough in my chest today but it's just the lingering stuff at this point. I feel so much better!
Had a nice night with my sons here at home. I'm about to play Santa pretty soon and then hit the hay. Fortunately I did all the wrapping and organizing earlier so all I need to do is put it out and "eat" the cookies for Santa and drink the milk.
Life is good, right?

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. It was a nice one here.
Day 30 today - just posting to keep myself accountable. The weird part is that I haven't had any trouble getting to this point at all - not a struggle for me. Ironically, the first craving I had for wine was last night! On day 29. I thought it might be nice to celebrate with a cold glass of Chardonnay. Weird. But then I went through the whole thing of what it would lead to, how it would affect my sleep and make me hungover in the morning, yada yada yada, and I just ignored it and went out to eat with my son and got a diet coke with vanilla.
So made it to 30 and in the new year, plan to add a lot more exercise, yoga, meetings and healthy eating. Getting ready for New Year's here. I really like New Year's because it's a low key holiday, at least for me, where I stay home and do fun things and watch the ball drop at midnight.
Happy, happy to all.

For me- time, effort, strength of will power do not matter if I am not always vigilant about that split second decision st make between the thought of a drink and having it. Defcon 4 on drinking for life. The AV can come on a nice day in 10 years sobriety with the perfect life and no stress-WHY? Who cares if my defcon still works.
