Support to you my snooz. My father died of cirrhosis which led to CHF at the tender age of 54. Leaving behind me, his only daughter, i was 17 years old.

You have a chance right now. Please, be brave, we are here for you.

I'm another who stumbled on the thread and went back and read about your diagnosis of a damaged liver.

A big congratulations. I too stopped drinking a bit over a year ago.

Please keep stringing sober days onto the string of 365!

Snooz, I see so many people trying and failing to get sober so that it took you a while to make it stick gives me hope for those I see struggling on SR.

This will be your second set of holidays being continually sober. Did anything in particular help you?

Bek, I would say for sure that staying away from people who drink was my number one. Even family.
I checked in here In SR every day for support.
I had no alcohol in my house.
I declined all events where alcohol would be.
I changed my routine at peak drinking time and went for a walk with the dogs.
I had early dinners and early nights.
When I got a craving, I would ring someone as a distraction ( cravings last about 7 minutes ) if you can ride through that , it works.
When I felt like a drink , I ate instead ....this was AMAZING . It really helped.
Sometimes I even went to bed at 4 pm after and early dinner and watched Netflix.
I will NEVER drink again.
Waking up hangover free and clear headed is a great life.
My hangovers got so bad in the end , I seriously thought I would die during one.

I just wish I had woken up years earlier from putting myself through that hell.
No more anxiety, no stress, just a calm that comes with sobriety.

A reminder to myself of how far I have come in this last year .

Just had my latest blood test results and they are better than they have been for the past 20 years.

liver enzymes still elevated, but gradually coming down .

almost a year sober in November 23 .

Ive got it this time .

Thanks to everyone who has always supported me in here including my July 13 era .

natural sleep is bliss ;-)
