Today I was thinking about my past drug use and whether or not I had reached addiction or just came close. Without a doubt I'm an alcoholic. I haven't done hard drugs in years and never reached the point of uncontrollable use, but was habitual. Still, I am a substance abuser - give me a substance that will alter mind (alcohol, pot, pills, etc.) and I will abuse it. So that being the case I am definitely a candidate for complete and total abstinence. Therefore I commityself to 24 more hours of sobriety!!!
24 more hours as I am finally beginning to feel a bit back to life. Why turn around now? Nope. 8:41PM.
One can not be deeply responsive to the world without being saddened very often. - Eric Fromm
One way to avoid hurt in this world is to kill all feelings. Another is to see nothing: withdraw, close up like a deep water clam does when it senses a threat. Then everything that swims by is put off by that closed shell.
Unlike clams, however, we can not hide in a defensive shell without damaging ourselves. There is no way around it. If we take a good look at what is going on in the world, and try to be responsive to it, there will be sadness. At this stage of human evolution there is much to be sad about.
Compassion has a price. if we choose to care, we first choose to grow in maturity. We must learn to acknowledge all that is painful in this world, all the human failing - without being consumed by it. As real and distressing as all the sad things are, they are not the totality of human experience. Just as our compassion is not that totality of who we are. We need always to recognize the existence of what is good as well as what is not.
As I seek truth, I will find enough good to keep me going.

Greetings everyone! Tis 10:11 pm here in Ontario.
Today is sober day # 50 for me I'm so grateful to have come this far.
If the Creator would be so kind as to grant me yet another sober 24 I'd be very thankful.

24 more please. I'm working from home today and pleased to be out of the toxic atmosphere
There are some people who drain my positivity, and I work with one of them unfortunately.
Have a great day everyone, no matter what you are doing ❤️

What a fantastic post, and thank you for an apt reminder:
We need always to recognize the existence of what is good as well as what is not.
Sleep is a problem still and I have no enthusiasm for anything just now, feel like I just want to curl up in a corner and hide.
Having said that, I'm proud to say I'm sober and I'll take another 24 hours please.
May today be kind to us all.
7.23am uk time and I could do with a couple of hours power nap right now..
Peace all
