24 more for me. Just been to a neighbour's halloween party sober. Last year at the halloween party I made a drunken disgrace of myself so so glad to be sober this year

Hope you are all well xx

All holidays for me were a brilliant reason to drink. The build up to the occasion was almost as good as the actual drinking. Of course I would pre drink before drinking, just to make sure. Then the predictable (to everyone but me) outcomes. At best- go to bed- sometimes in the middle of the day. At worst? Well I am sure all have stories. Then without drinking- the build up of anxiety about NOT drinking was just as bad. I would focus- again on drinking. It would have been a little easier if I just stayed in the moment. Got a coke first, made sure I ate something (HALTS) and tried (at least) to engage in conversation. Sometimes just watching others get drunk was a social lesson to observe but not participate in.

Checking in tonight. Going for another 24 hours at 4:31p CST.

Today is National Oatmeal Day!

Here are 5 fun facts about oatmeal:
1. Oatmeal is still a bargain at less than 15 cents a serving.
2. An 18-ounce package of Old Fashioned QuakerŽ Oats contains about 26,000 rolled oats.
3. Oatmeal cookies are the #1 non-cereal usage for oatmeal, followed by meatloaf and fruit crisp.
4. Seventy-five percent of U.S. households have oatmeal in their cupboard.
5.The portrait of the Quaker man on the QuakerŽ Oats package has been updated just three times since its creation in 1877, once in 1946, again in 1957 and, most recently, in 1972.

1new-glad you enjoyed chocolate day!

Well done to the twin milestoners today ! Double the celebrations and double the happiness ! Keep on trooping !

I journal what my goal and what I am grateful for every day. There are days when I struggle to figure out something 'new' that I am grateful for. Yet, it is enough to simply be grateful for being sober. I am grateful for that every day. It is the platform for everything else that happens in my life. The day I take that for granted is the day I will lose it.

ON a lighter side there was something to be grateful for this morning I heard some kookaburras laughing which is rare these days. When I was little, we always had kookaburras in our neighbourhood. So, it was wonderful to hear one laugh this morning ! I am grateful to have enjoyed that !

Another 24 hours of well being, loving kindness and sobriety pls ! Its 11:27am here !

Hahaha Kaneda, I had to find a YouTube of the laughing kookaburra. My daughter and I laughed so hard at that sound. Good stuff.

I also remember a song about that bird I think......when I was a kid.
