Class of September 2016 Part 4
Thanks Helen & Dee~
I am leaving work soon, maybe getting some fresh air might help. Today has been a bad day, I have to go take care of my brother's cats as they are on vacation and then maybe I will be tired enough to just go home. Thanks for your responses

Good morning folks.
Tekink, isn't a good night's sleep the best thing ever! ESPECIALLY when it's a rare treat.
Windancer I hope you are enjoying your retreat this weekend.
SoberRobster, 3 weeks is awesome!
Anustart sounds like you had a great day. I've never been to Universal (Studios I assume?) Maybe one day.
SSOH I think Windancer may be on to something with being dehydrated causing morning headaches. I know I don't drink enough water and need to work on that. I did sleep better last night. I closed the window and turned on the heat lol.
CAGY this election is so dividing! Even those of us not in the U.S. are heavily involved in stating our opinions on social media. And this is the first time I see really hard feelings and nasty arguments about it at least to the extent I see it this time. Another interview for you - that's great! I always say that there is no wrong with an interview. Even if you don't get the job the interview was a good learning experience on doing interviews.
Emme, hope you are able to check in with us today. Thinking about you and wishing you a better day today (((hugs)))
I spent the day at my daughter's helping her paint and prep (stage) her house for her real estate appointment. Not sure if I mentioned it before but they are staying at my husband's house over two hours away as my son-in-law just got a new job there. Once he gets his seniority they will sell their house here and buy something up that way. Very bittersweet for me. I am so happy for them because this is a great opportunity but I won't be able to see them at the drop of a hat as I do now (we currently live ten minutes apart). On the other hand it's not like they are moving across the country like so many of my friend's children have done. I will still be able to see them regularly and be part of my granddaughter's life.
My husband is home for the weekend today (he lives away during the week for work) so I'd best get off the computer and do something constructive around here. There's so much dog and cat fur piling up I could use a baler! lol (funny story - I once had a friend whose mom would spin dog fur and then knit hats with it. Problem was my friend said when the hats got wet they smelled like wet dog lol)
Have a good one everyone

A good night's sleep is wonderful! Last night was so so, I slept most of the night but woke at 6 am and couldn't get back to sleep.
I hope someday I can sleep all night again. I wasn't sleeping well before I gave up the alcohol either.

Hi everyone~
Today is a better day. I got up and took a shower and then worked in my garage. My dad came over and helped. There have been spiders in there recently so he sprayed some bug spray around the perimeter. I am watching football now and getting ready to eat something.
Thank you everyone for your help last night and for checking in today. I need to update my plan and come up with something to do when I have days like yesterday.
Thank you again and Happy Saturday

Good morning everyone! I hope you all enjoy your sunday! It's the first day of my weekend and I'm getting ready to go out of town to visit my dad. He's turning 80 so I'm going to his birthday party and spending a week in the detroit area.

Day 22
Good morning, Class!
I spent most of Friday at the Food and Wine Festival at Disney Epcot. For those of you not familiar (and the classy name kinda hides it) it's basically a celebration of alcohol and drinking... "Drink, Drank, Drunk" was the most popular souvenir t-shirt I saw.
Is it smart for someone with less than three weeks of sobriety under their belt to do this? No. No, it's not. But I committed to it with my friends before I committed to quitting with myself and so I put on my brave face. Of course they would notice when I wasn't imbibing and I considered telling them the truth, but I lied and told them a doctor had put me on sone medication that I couldn't drink with. That seemed to satisfy whatever curiosity they had. (I'm sure they noticed I wasn't drinking at Halloween Horror Nights, but they didn't ask then.)
And I didn't drink. Not one drop. I was really worried about it and even considering just drinking and starting fresh at Day 1 on Saturday, but in the end my commitment held strong. No regrets, and after two alcohol-based events like those, that's a rare thing for me.
So, question: I'm taking Sam-E, a multivitamin, B-complex, and zinc to help my liver regenerate its cells. Anything else I can also take? And anything to help rebuild cognitive function? I could Google, but I thought I would ask for some firsthand knowledge if it's out there.
I'm proud of all of us!

Good morning folks.
Tekink when you get to Detroit face the river and wave - I'm on the Canadian side there
Anustart you showed some real strength there. Not sure I would have held up as well.
I had a busy day yesterday and my AV was getting really loud in my ear. It started when I was working on a project refinishing a cabinet in my garage. Normally I have a beer while working out there. Not getting drunk, just a beer, and my AV made sure I knew that. At the same time I made homemade turkey soup and homemade bread. AV was practically screaming at me that I deserved some reward drinking. I was going to log on here and check in for accountability's sake, but silly me didn't want to post after I was the last one who posted lol. Didn't want to show myself as spending too much time on here I guess. Anyway I went to the fridge and got a cranberry gingerale (something with more flavour and substance than water) and sat back down at the computer. Knowing that I wanted to check in here to keep myself accountable seemed to do the trick and kept me accountable. After about fifteen minutes the AV shut up and I got on with the rest of my night.
I finished up the cabinet project this morning. It's a cabinet my dad made me for my toy dishes when I was about 4yo. He would never have imagined that his granddaughter would use it and now 50 years later I'm refinishing it for his great-granddaughter!
Have a good one everyone.

Happy Sunday Sept.2016 class! I'm at day 32, and it's been a frustrating weekend. Do you ever have those days where nothing goes right? Well, yesterday my AV tried to trick me and convince me to reach out for my old friend (beastly booze), I had to fight hard! I stayed close to SR, and a pound of gummy bears
Thanks SR!!

Hi all,
Just checking in. Finding sobriety a bit wearing. Fair to say the novelty has worn off and I had a tough weekend, feeling irritable and deprived! Am trying to stay close to this forum. I know what you mean about posting lots, Helen & CuteNGay - I spent a ridiculous amount of time on here on Sat!
Tekink - hope you have a great time with your Dad.
Anustart - I hadn't thought about taking particular supplements to help with this. Would be interested in answers to your question too!
Helen - So lovely that your grandchild will be using the same cabinet! I know what you mean about activities that are usually accompanied by a drink, though. I have a LOT of those... Will have to try cranberry ginger ale - is that literally ginger ale mixed with cranberry juice? Or does it come ready mixed like that in Canada?
Glad you had a great weekend Windancer! Hope you enjoy breakfast with your horses again today. I can't wait until my dog is back with me.
And Hi Wildflower. I think we had a similar weekend from the sounds of it. And I am also gorging on sweets - the sour, sugar-covered ones for me.
Hope everyone has a decent Monday...
xx

I love Cranberry ginger ale (Canada dry) and cranberry sprite and/or Sierra mist. They usually come out about this time near the Holidays. Pretty slow this morning..hope we're not losing our pizzazz. Lol. Day 40. 55 was my high this year. Hope everyone has a great week!
