Oh!

I just checked in on the 24-hr. thread and saw that so far you have found the food almost inedible.

I am so sorry!

Surely it is possible to get a piece of plain, grilled meat. Or plain vegetables. Don't hesitate to ask.

Eggs are usually a safe bet, too--I think you do OK with eggs?

But don't even bother with our bacon! I've seen pictures of Aussie bacon. You totally kick our butts!

PM me a list of your food needs and what you'd like to eat. I will ask my Aussie roommate what he found most decently tolerable when he first arrived here.

This is not my area of expertise but I agree - it's room service - surely at your service?

Ask for whatever you need

Also, Suze--within the last 10 years, awareness of food allergies has become a very big deal in American restaurants. Don't hesitate to list whatever you can't have.

Suze, find a bagel shop. Lots of variety there. Get some sleep and, I truly hope you enjoy your trip.

Honestly, I'm very much surprised. I lived in New York City for four years and it had many five star restaurants, including Pavillon, presided over by an internationally famous chef, M. Soulé. I have never found the food in any Hyatt inedible! Nor have I been in any way dissatisfied with American bacon. A great deal of our bacon comes now from Canada and I would think the better hotels might do that. I would certainly think that eggs would be O.K., provided they are "free ranch" eggs from chickens who come from "good families" (chickens "we should know", hens we have been "introduced to"). Well, anyway, perhaps a starving fellow might get a decent meal at the Waldorf. Is the old St. Regis still there? Why not get a guidebook? If you get an apple, it's fine, unless you find a worm in it. It's even worse to find a half a worm. Like a banana with half a spider.Bon appetit!

I would NEVER ingest an egg from the wrong side of the tracks! It's simply not done.

Hi Suze!!

Welcome to our country!
I'm sorry it's been rough so far, though.

Just a note on jet lag- I very much do believe in it. I can shrug it off going with the sun (west) but whenever I travel long distances east, and against the sun, I treat myself like a have the flu for a few days.

Nothing tastes right, nothing looks right for about 5 days (for me). After that, it's amazing how things start to look brighter.

So, again, this is just me, but if I were you, I would just eat very lightly, sleep when I can and not expect to do much for a few days.

Take care honey.

It's going to be okay, Suze, and then better than okay, and then good, and then great, and then fantastic and then surreal. Have Faith.

Good Day, Suze!

It's on the way.

Take it easy and catch up with your bearings.

Ask for what you need.

Thank God you've arrived safely.

My heart is on your heart.

You're going to have a beautiful time.

Think Positive - Draw Positive.

Nope.....still cannot get anything that even resembles food.
And I am so so hungry...
And I'm not safe at all ~ I have no idea what to do.

Goat will be here later. I need help.

I have asked ~ over and over. There is NOTHING I can eat here...nothing.
This is not food.

Thinking that McDonald's might be the only way I don't starve.

Been thinking about you so had to check in again.

Listen- If you don't feel safe, you don't have to go anywhere. Fwiw, I think it is safer than you think, but if you don't *feel* safe that is all that matters...

As people have mentioned, a NY bagel is a wonderful thing. If there is a shop in the lobby or down the street, that is a good bet.

Another thing is that most hotels in the States have are restaurants and shops that will deliver right to your hotel room. There may be menus on your hotel desk.

Also, McDonald's sounds A-Okay if there's one just down the street.

Just throwing this out there in case it's of help.

Hang in there, girl!

Sorry if this is unwanted advice, but I've been 'there' in many cities so I get the confusion.
