Hi undies!
I'm so excited to have my username back thanks to Anna!! It's been months since I've been able to log in with it.
Just doing some catching up tonight on everyone's posts. Interesting view on alcoholism and whether or not it is a disease. All I know is that I am an alcoholic and drinking can no longer be an option for me.
I've been super busy at wompland working lots of overtime the past couple months. I've actually been feeling burnt out so I'm giving myself a 3 day weekend next week and counting down the days until it is here.
Tonight I had some really bad cravings while driving for a bit. They came out of no where and I just wanted to get away but I was with my gf and roommate so it really wasn't an option. Thankfully it passed and I am home in bed now.
Hope everyone is doing well this evening. Off to bed for me to get a quick 5 hours before it's back to wompland.

Morning Everyone!
I now have an early morning routine:
workout>shower>changed>brush dogs>do emails>do backups>take son to college.
I got up an hour later this morning simply because I wanted an extra bit of time in bed and when I got up everything was a mess of timing!
I've gone from frequently sleeping off a hangover to a point where getting up late destroys my whole morning routine.
Giving up booze has completely transformed my life.
Have a great day everyone!

Great to have "BoozeFree" back in the lineup!
Kopfan, your organizational skills are amazing. After getting my kids off to school, I went back to bed for a bit. I am trying to do a better job listening to my body, and if it wants a little more sleep, I am happy to oblige.
We have the last of "Indian Summer" going on here, a week of temps reminiscent of early September, not late October. I am hoping to get out on my bike and enjoy the morning shortly.
Have a great day all!

I wouldn't say "amazing" but definitely improving.
I've found that my focus and ability to get things done goes in cycles and sometimes I deviate completely from the scheduled calendar of work to be done for days on end.
But every week I get better at it and every time I resolve to get more done I schedule more free time into the schedule.
I know that sounds barmy but I've found that trying to fill every minute of every day is counter productive. You need more free time so you are ready to go when the next task begins.
Enjoy your bike ride - I'm off out with the dogs.

Hi undies
Kopfan - For me, I LOVE remembering the night before. I was a black out, pass out drinker who spent so many mornings trying to piece together the night before.
I think that my compliance with structure tends to have run in cycles most of my life. Ive eaten healthy for a long time....then gone through phases where I eat whatever I want..... I've exercised diligently for a long stretch.....then let myself get out of shape.... My house has been tidy for a long time....then I've let it get disorganized. I've come to see this all or nothing thinking as a symptom of my addictive behavior. Currently I'm working on finding middle ground where my goals are attainable for the long term parallel to each other, as opposed to only one at a time or in hyperfocused bursts.
BoozeFree - It's great to see you back here! Good for you for recognizing the cues that you're burnt out - and taking the steps to alleviate some of that stress with a long weekend. Healthy thinking and behavior is foundational to my ongoing sobriety.
Babs - Glad to hear you're doing well and maintaining your sobriety!!
Stargazer - I started listening to my body's need to rest for the first time when I got sober. For me, going to bed 15-20 minutes earlier makes me feel more focused and at ease all day.
I'm still waiting to hear on the promotion. I found out today that tomorrow I have a 2nd interview with a new department head. Wish me luck!
Have a good sober day, everyone!

Glee good luck with the promotion! Keep ya updated that's awesome. Wompland kicked my butt today as usual. Just 2 more days of work until I can enjoy my 3 day weekend!
Very grateful to be sober. I've been struggling a lot with accepting things I can't change or have control over and just keep saying the serenity prayer trying to move past it

GF hope I'm not too late sending luck, but then I don't think you will need it anyway!
BFree, good to see you and enjoy your long weekend. Don't let those cravings get you down, the do get fewer and further apart and certainly get weaker once the first year is behind you.
Kopfan, yes we all need down time, time to reflect or relax or just to 'be'
