No way! That is awesome buddy. Something to be very proud of. Not many can do that. I am so happy for you!

As far as me? Well... I didn't learn all the lessons I needed to learn after quitting alcohol and was out on a path to be damn sure I did learn them.

I was living in am environment which continually surfaced feelings of regret and depression and began looking for solutions from outside sources. I ended up hooked on something different.

As a result of my addictive behaviors, I began to destroy everything around me again.

The good part is the experience opened my mind to to exploring the root of my issues and behaviors. In the past 6months or so, I've made HUGE improvements in that space. I'm very psyched about that.

I think I have a relatively firm grip on my root issues and how to deal with them. Well... I at least have an understanding. Moreso than ever before.

All thanks to making an concerted effort to find myself. Through that, I found spirituality and being able to connect to my deepest essence.

I've finally been able to form some healthy habits from it. Spiritually / emotional anyway. Though I find myself getting lazy at times, I am quit to return to moving forward and growing. Mostly because the work pays off.

Lots of growth going on at my end. Been mind blowing. That's where I think I tripped after alcohol.

I quit drinking, but I didn't do anything to grow.

thanks InControl for sharing your experiences. You are right the personal growth is so important so we don't fall back into drinking or another situation. It seems like there is always some sort of temptation we could easily pick up! lol. I have been pretty careful not too. I can sometimes see those types of behaviors trying to sneak in.

Thanks for sharing your story. It is a good reminder to me to keep working on the emotional & spiritual growth like you mentioned.

I am happy you are doing well too!! keep up the good work.

This still the most active thread?

I haven’t logged in in awhile. Still sober. Trying to figure out some nutritional deficiencies and just how to manage life without alcohol. I have had a cigarette here and there when I have anxiety but I’m trying to address the root issues so as to avoid the need to reach for substances. Turns out I have b 12 deficiency, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and a host of other issues. Just feeling normal each day is a struggle. But what I’ve come to realize is that alcohol never helped that it always made it worse and that’s what keeps me off of it almost 2 years later. I’ve had SO much growth in this short amount of time and I’m so grateful to rid myself of the monster!! How’s everyone else?

83mamaof2- I have anxiety occasionally and the doctor checked me for thyroid issues but those test showed everything was okay I exercise every day that is what keeps me going. I love those endorphins! lol.

I am glad you had a good check up and know what is going on and they can do something for it. You are right alcohol never does help any of that. It is just a temporary band aid.

I will be two years sober in June! I am really excited. It is hard to believe! I think it is really exciting. I have learned a lot about myself and still am every day. Sometimes it is kinda scary! lol.

are you getting excited? I know you will reach it before me!

anyone else still around from this class?

Hi Incontrol!

Thank you! Are you coming up on three years of sobriety? Congratulations!! I have exercised most days since 2013 but really didn’t get good results until the last few years after I quite drinking. Alcohol was hindering my progress before. I have a ton of energy now.

Anyone still active here?

Please tell me there’s not just a handful of sober people left in our group! It’s been over 2 years! Doing great these days. Had a mammogram(my first!) and I was scared cause my mom currently has stage 4 breast cancer.. we learned it isn’t genetic so that’s a relief. And a diagnostic mammo confirmed that my breasts were perfectly healthy.. followed up on some other health exams and I’m happy and relieved to know I’m healthy despite all of my health issues! Allergies, hashimotos, vitamin deficiency. I’m addressing and correcting all of that though. Something I would not have been able to handle with alcohol in my life! My relationship with my kids and husband has improved quite a bit too. I am definitely in this sobriety thing for the long haul!! How is everyone else doing!?
