One Year and Under Club Part 55
Hi Undies,
It's so nice to see folks thriving in the first year of recovery. When I was newly sober and struggling with doing everything sober for the first time, Dee and the other folks on this thread gave me so much hope that I wouldn't just make it, that I'd thrive.
In active addiction I thought chaos and excitement were the signs that I was really putting myself out there and leading a fulfilling life. By actively pursuing recovery, I'm calmer and more peaceful than I ever thought possible, and I've come to find deep joy in the very things that seemed so boring and gray and routine in early recovery.
Today I worked out and made lunch. Then I went to my favorite gas station to fill my tank for the week and buy a 99 cent coffee. Then I shopped for groceries and put them away in the kitchen. And because of recovery I am deeply calm and happy, and don't feel like I'm missing out!!!!!

Gleefan, I have also been amazed I feel calmer, more focused and less worried about what I might be missing. Which is nothing, by the way. Back to school/work tomorrow, will see my work buddies who have been on vacations, they are supportive of me getting healthy liver wise but don't know yet that I won't be returning to drinking lots of white wine in large cups with lots of ice.

Good day back to work, fall for me, a teacher is like the New Year. Feels good to feel good. I hope others had good days. Wow, just signed up online to get my last blood work results back from before I quit, could see exactly why my Dr. looked so serious when he spoke to me.........glad I'm working on it and hoping the results from tomorrow's blood work look better........
Mklove, I just got blood work done and I received the best results that I have had in over a decade. Cholesterol, blood sugars, etc all way down. It is amazing how alcohol affects us on so many levels.
I agree with you and Glee saying how much calmer life is now. The inner peace I experience on a daily basis is priceless. I don't need the "excitement"that alcohol brought to my life.
Have a great day everyone!

Thanks all, good to know that people have seen great results not just with the obvious liver functioning tests but other important health related ones as well. I can only move forward with positive efforts, no looking back.
