That's how you do it, Jo--one day at a time--good or bad--ask for help and just don't drink.

Great feeling waking up today. I'm going in to work to help my boss catch up over the holiday period. So grateful to be able to do that even if it does mean working on a Sunday lol!
Thanks again for the kind comments it's so nice to have this place it really is

Go, Jo! Nice work.

Not a terrible weekend here. Yesterday morning we went for a kayak and today we headed to the maritime museum at Darling Harbour. But, both days have seen some challenging behaviour from Child 2. He can be so difficult to parent. I've used his behaviour in the past to justify my decision to drink. And, some days, my AV tries to use it as a trigger to pick again. I'm hanging in there, but I guess I need to add to the plan. Do other people ever feel triggered by their own children? Man, that's horrible to see written down. And bad thinking. His behaviour is, well, not exactly normal, but typical for him. My response to it is the problem. I need better ways at handling the stress I feel when he is being challenging. Hmm. That was kinda handy to write that out. I need to add more destressing to the plan.

Happy Sunday.

Happy Sunday everyone!
I think I might have had the best day in a long time yesterday. The weather was rain on and off all day with some bouts of heavy rain, so my friend and I decided to make it a movie day. We made a pizza on the grill, some comfy food "dips" and snacked and watched movies all day! I think what made it a good day was the company I was with, the fact that I didn't feel any sort of urge to drink, and for once in months, I felt "relaxed".
I don't know if anyone can relate to that, but it felt good for once to just be still. No busy running around, no expectations, etc.
Not much on todays agenda. The weather is fall like here today, and it feels amazing to open up the windows!!!!
Have a great day all!

Hi Flossy. That was a great bit of honesty and you'll benefit from it I'm sure. I'm lucky my girls are both good but it is constant 24/7 with no let up even if we really crave an hours peace. I think working on a plan for your youngest is a good idea even if it's an emergency plan for when it really hits the fan! My nephew had chronic adhd and I truly don't know how my sister in law managed....he's grown out of it now and is a lovely 18 year old young man now. Of course you know that the av will try any excuse to get its way in. I'm the opposite to you. No kids at home and my av is playing with me...so we must remain vigilant (I like that word lol) ....

Camery your girls night in sounded great! That's the kind of treat night we need now isn't it?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend xxx

98 days today and doing ok. SR has been huge support and help. I still find parties difficult but not nearly as taxing as two months ago. Progress...one step at a time one day at a time.

Happy Sunday all!! Rainy here so not much going on...taking care of the boys (2 year old and 1 year old) while the future mother of three Mrs. Eagle rests.

Darwinia - Congrats on 98 days!! That is awesome. You have exactly the right attitude...one day at a time and progress (not perfection).

Flossy - That is completely understandable...my older child is much more high maintenance and has a constant motor. Journaling definitely helps and bringing some of our inner thoughts into the light within a safe space can be therapeutic. You are on the right track as well I think with knowing that our alcoholic minds are cunning, baffling, and powerful and are always finding reasons for us to "enjoy" a few adult beverages. The fact that you are aware of this all and are able to sense when you need to "enhance" your plan is very inspiring and a great sign.

Camery - Sounds like a great time...would love to enjoy one of those days. Glad you are doing so well and everything is working itself out

Jo - Great work in working through the issues and keeping your sobriety first. Glad you've found something that works for you and congrats on being able to step up to the plate for your job, even if it means working on Sunday. Great job

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been here in a long while. must have been since early July. I had a set back, lost a dear friend unexpectedly, sorry can't write it down, it's too sad of a story. But we're slowly learning to live with it....

In my drinking days I would have just wasted myself but being sober helped me to cope with it and I wasn't tempted once.

All you lovely Mayflies, it's soooo brilliant to read your posts while remembering how we all started in May, counting the days. It feels so grown up now. Brilliant!!!!

Hey Camery, I'm job hunting too at the moment. Have been for about 2 months now. Last week finally I was invited to an interview on 2nd Sept. Also waiting to hear from other companies this week. I find it draining, do you?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, best of luck.

Have a good and sober week everyone.

Hey Elke-
Glad to hear from you. Yes, I am job hunting, and it sucks. Not only is it draining but it is maddening, and depressing. A true test of your mental state and anxiety, and sobriety. So far, I have done okay, but I am reaching the end of my rope. The interview that went so well Friday? No call on Monday as they stated they would, so it is back to square one.
I don't know how much more I can take...........

Sad to say. I came close today guys. Ended up in the parking lot of the liquor store ready to just suck it up and get wasted to end the pain and sorrow. Then I remember:
1.) how far I have come
2.) what a let down to myself and everything I have stood for for the past few months
3. happiness and overall well being
4.) get OVER it.
5.) Just stupid. Go home, take a bath, have a cup of coffee and relax!!!

So, here I am, enjoying a decaffeinated latte. Have a good evening everyone!
