Freein,
At almost 60 here, I look back and wonder how my mind could trick me into thinking the new aches and pains showing up at 50 were something to get down over !?
If I'm lucky enough to make 70 one day, ..... probably think what a breeze it was at 60 !?

Finally finished that little brick pier for the garden hose spigot yesterday ,

...and just finished up installing a stainless fold-up ladder off the transom on the skiff.
What a relief not to ever have to think about climbing back in the boat in an emergency situation . The swim ladder I was using before was one of those that was carried aboard and deployed by hanging it off the back of the boat, but would never be accessible if just one person was aboard and fell over in the water,

...or if someone too heavy to lift out the water fell overboard and the ladder was back home ,...because swimming wasn't in the plans that trip. That kind of ladder takes up precious room aboard such a small skiff also, ...
Already forgot to bring it in the Spring this year when we were planning on swimming . ,.... once I realized it was my responsibility as the boat operator for the general safety of the folks aboard,...that kind'a changes things in a way.

Hard to believe that project is almost finished !??

Outside of installing a keel guard sometime this summer, ..all there is left is installing 2 cup holders ( with drains ) on the top of the center console, ... !

These last two three day weekends make me realize I'll have to talk to management soon about cutting my schedule down to 4 day work weeks ( plus working every holiday ),.... time is too precious to be chasing a few extra bucks around at my age.

Wow TS, I've been feeling down today about some health issues today....the hair thing Doc said probably stress related, the nodules on my Nuckles that developed a year ago is osteoarthritis & afraid this last year of cleaning for a living has really taken its toll on them & hurting these days, I see the neurologist tomorrow RE: arms & hands falling asleep....I'm in my 50s k can hardly wait for 60 now

Great going on the skiff latter. I watched a movie once based on a true story about a bunch of young people went out on a yacht....they ended up all in the water & had no way to get back in, sad story there.

Went out to water a bit ago & ended up mowing the front lawn & weeding through some beds. Have had the last 2 days off & another tomorrow....has been nice. I'm going to have to figure something out work wise too with the hands now. I only clean there 3 days a week but it's 7 /12 hrs of cleaning, clearly one of the worst things I could be doing to them. My ankles are also hurting probably due to squatting while I clean. I turned down a side job today & am probably going to just let them know I won't be doing that anymore. I've got to make a living but not keen on the idea of crippling myself any sooner than need be.

Mariah,
My early visits to the Doctors proved about useless with the pain I developed in my hands and wrists in the mid 90's. After a bunch of negative lab tests once I had healthcare in 2010 with this job, I'd lost all confidence in the medical field.
Finally occurred to me one day last year my symptoms started up the same year I bought a bread maker in 91 !! Never took the whole * gluten-free * thing seriously, until I tried it, and found out I must have developed a terrible allergy or something . Because I never have any kind of serious pain or inflammation lasting days anymore .

Of course I get occasional work or diet related inflammation , but it only last a half a day at most, ... the severity never touches what I lived with for nearly twenty years off and on.

Have you ever considered giving up wheat and dairy for several months to see if it helps ?

I would sure try TS, but the nodules I've developed in my fingers are sure sign of osteoarthritis. I'm going to pick up some cleaning "tools" today & really be viligent at not working them so damn hard.

Obo??

Have a good day peep

Morning All,
lucky to have made it through last night.
AV was insane and loud!

Pressure right back on now, moving company coming on Saturday, taking most of the tables, art etc...... Don't know what to do with my guitars. Send then shipping or pay and take them on the plane.

Giving away books, clothes, a Cello, a bike.........feels good to be clearing it all out.

We're giving the flat to a Canadian guy and his new wife. A friend of a friend. He's lucky as hell, the rents are all going up here. Big building boom on in HK, they sense the mainlanders coming so are getting in now!

Tax office and Police still to do.......

15 days and I'm home!

Love reading about the Skiff Tops, an inspiration.....

Mariah: Ginger tea cures everything!

Went to neurologist....not carpral tunnel. He said the muscles in my neck are so tight they may be restricting blood vessels. DOc told me to take a vacation....ha! Going to have Son massage neck & shoulder muscles for a few nights & see if that helps. Told him I would pay him & he says you don't have to pay me Mom

Had to drive south about 30 miles for appt....got back to town & made a few stoops & car would not start at last stop. Turning over but won't start....Brother said maybe timing belt. Had it towed to mechanics who were gone for the day. See what the verdict is tomorrow. On with the race.

What a day Mariah! I bet you were glad to be home. That's good news from neurologist, just need to find a way to loosen those neck muscles. Do you find yoga helps? When I do a lot of driving, I find the Plough particularly helps to stretch my back and neck (I can rarely manage a full plough, but even the attempt seems to help)

Should be fitting the conservatory windows this weekend, weather permitting. Then it's all action, the roof trusses and then the roof.

Mums appointment went quite well yesterday, just a change in meds - no need for more radiotherapy.

It's too busy for my liking at the moment - hoping things will slow up a bit soon. It looks like we could all do with a holiday!

Have a great day all.

No more improvement Mariah. At least it has me back to where I was a few months ago. Had my last appointment today, well yesterday, Wednesday. Now I'm getting jerked around by the insurance about getting the MRI which I need to see a specialist.
Your son may regret the offer to massage you for free over time. Seriously, you have a good kid there, you did a good job raising him.

I'm glad your mom's appointment went well free. I hope the weather goes well for you this weekend. Here they usually do the roof before the windows ... good luck getting them in.

Proud of you for not drinking obo. I can't imagine the stress you are going through. I hope things run smoothly for you.

Sound like you are really getting the skiff in tiptop shape there tops. You'll have to post some pics when you are done.

I've been in a really dark place lately. Haven't drank or used, haven't really had anything more than a passing urge to ... nothing worth mentioning.

Have a great one.

I hope you get the OK for MRI Up...keep on them, push your Doc to get it approved. Are you walking & getting out? I know it's hard when you get in that place, but it is huge in getting yourself out of it. Proud of you too for not picking up.

On the run this am....more later....have a good day all.

That's good news that you're getting out a bit UP. That was difficult for you a while ago wasn't it?

You're right about the windows - it does make more sense to put the roof on first. With our build though, there aren't any walls to plop the roof on to - the windows will be the walls. It does sound a bit dodgy doesn't it!

I'm in for an early night tonight. Soon be the weekend.

A while ago I had no motivation to go anywhere, of course that's when I was living alone. Now there are times when I HAVE to get away to get some peace and quiet.

As long as the windows are designed for that it doesn't sound dodgy.

Glad to hear your getting out Up. Living with others is Definately a challenge for sure. Is that temporary?

Good news on the car. Apparently the anti theft was ingaged somehow & mechanic re-set it, showed me how to do it if it happened again & didn't charge me.

Tired & not feeling well....going to drink some stomach ease tea & chill for awhile anyway.

The conservatory sounds like it will be fabulous Free....hope it all goes well & your work load lightens up soon.

That is good news about the car and that they didn't charge you.

Hope you feel better soon.

Mariah,...love when that happens !

Up, ...you're doing 1000% better than me right now when you ride !
What a fortuitous situation you're riding "to get away to get some peace and quiet."

You've given me an idea !? Maybe use the angst I sometimes feel with Charlie back as a reason to get back on the road,

.

Not at all Freein,.... I built a couple walls in the boathouse incorporating fixed glass between the studs , ,...to avoid using any headers for the top plate. is that what y'all have planned ?

The two by eight I milled for the sill [ beveled to shed water ] ... was a little tricky to notch tight around the studs,...but it worked out well. No leaks, anyway. Only used stops on the two verticals and top horizontal of the lower fixed units and ran a bead of epoxy sealant along the glass sitting atop the sill so no water could gather behind a wooden stop there. ( years of re glazes taught me those low stops invariably rot out, and cause damage to the sill in the process )

...if that makes sense ?

I forgot if y'all are using IG units or not though? You'll need a lower horizontal stop in that case to cover the aluminum spacer on those Insulated Glass units.

Y'all building the trusses yourselves ?
I needed two guys on the ground to hand 26 foot trusses to two of us up on some scaffolding. What a workout wrestling 19 of those babies !?!

It's important to have the walls temporarily braced off real good when the trusses go up. You be careful with those things.

Eat some extra Wheaties that morning !

OMG!!!!!!

Hey free, do you need some construction help? I can't do heavy lifting but am pretty good otherwise.

I want to become ScrewdUpIn .... anywhere but here. Negativity, arguing and drama here are stressing me out beyond belief.

Sorry UP....no fun there! Can you ask them to chill out or take the drama elsewhere?

That would probably like throwing gas on a fire. Or water on a grease fire.

What really upsets me is that my stepmother is trying to play referee and she is in poor health. Sometimes I wonder if they are trying to give her a heart attack.
