Class Of March 2016 Part 21
Just noticed the button above that says "Remove Your Thanks." I picture someone thanking a poster, then feeling like their Thanks was a little too generous or unappreciated, so they take it back. I felt thankful, but now I'm not. Ha! Whoever programmed this system wanted people to say Thanks yet have full ability to take it back because we wouldn't want a Thanks hanging out there that wasn't heartfelt. I picture the programmer staff meeting with nothing but this topic on the agenda....and heated debates.
"5 million years ago we were an animal of some sort. Where will we be 5 million years from tonight?"
Hope everyone is keeping well
Hi Friends!
Hi everyone! Checking in on day 15. I think I finally figured out how to log on to SR on my computer!!! Yay! I am using a different browser so it seems to be working.
Treatment went well last night. We are really learning A LOT! There is so much more to addiction than just the drink. It's crazy. I am loving it and think it will save my life! I also start therapy next week as part of the IOP program and am going to several AA meetings this week.
Don't get me wrong, I have had some close calls and cravings, but now I have more tools to help me get through and I am literally to a point that I just do NOT want to go back to the life of drinking again! It was hell and the farther away I get from it the darker it seems. Treatment is helping me identify patterns and triggers.
I am FINALLY catching up on the posts from yesterday and today.
Bobbie: : I bet you just love snuggling with your little grand daughters. There is nothing more relaxing than holding a baby while it is sleeping. I got my homework finished for IOP just in the nick of time last night only to get more!!! hahahaha. I have that book Under the Influence but havent read it! (Update: I think that book is anti-AA so that's why I didn't read it because I think there was something I didn't agree with) lol. I just buy books to collect dust! ha UPDATE: how was you soccer game yesterday? I think it's cool that you play! UPDATE: Just saw that you lost your soccer game. I hate losing! ha.
Casey: You crack me up with your prime numbers! And HEY! I noticed the Feb. 2016 class is catching up with us! We better post more!!! UPDATE: I hope you got some rest after a 12 hour shift at work! WOW! That is a long time to work! UPDATE 2: I just saw that you are headed back to work AGAIN today! You should have enough money for a Ferrari by fall! Congrats on day 108!
Ladybug: How did the blood tests for you daughter go?
Clearlyheaded: Fingers crossed that you get that job!!! Keep us posted! UPDATE: treatment DID go well last night and I felt a LOT better when I got home.
Missy: AMAZING! AA is really making a difference this time, eh? I'm so glad you got a sponsor, that you like her and she has already giving you homework! Mine really helps me and those 12 steps saved my life the first time around when I had 5 years. I relapsed because I stopped going to AA. (part of the reason). Ugh. Sorry about your boss. Bring it up in a meeting or talk to you sponsor about it. That always helps. And BTW, competitive is great when is has to do with staying sober! And by the way, I have seen a lot of women knit in meetings. You can send ME a wash cloth for Christmas! ha. UPDATE: I just read that you are also in IOP. That's great. It really helps me. UPDATE 2: I just remembered why I didnt read that Under the Influence book. I think it is kinda anti-AA. I won't read it. I've tried every way other than AA and FOR ME, AA is the ONLY way. (with SR too of course :-))
Apple: What happened to your Kindle?
Fred: Congrats on 90 days yesterday!!! That is something to be proud of for sure! How did you like the AA meeting? Did you go to the Smart Recovery meeting? We don't have Smart Recovery where I live.
Purplrks: I haven't even started the first reading assignment! lol. I'm just reading the Big Book of AA right now.
Dee: Just wanted to say HI and as always, thank you for being here for us!
Lillian: That's funny about the "thanks button". haha. We need more options!!! You must have 86 days today, right? Woo hoo! And definitely staying away from FB is a good idea for me!!!
Sam: How is Charlie?
BBG: How are you?
MITA: WOW! Did you to get up that early on purpose?
Fabela: I think about everyone here all the time but I have been so busy with IOP and AA that I havent had a lot of time to post. I FORCED myself to make the time to post today. I DO think about you. People DO care about you. I am praying for you and you are NOT a hopeless mess. No one is a hopeless mess! (((hug)))
Spacegoat: 23 days! Congrats! Interesting food for thought Space. I love your posts.
Well....gotta tackle the to-do list now! I hope everyone is hanging in there! I love our class!!!:

Heading home from work. I feel tired and drained. DH says Charlie seems to be feeling a bit better so that's a relief.
Tomorrow is a work event at a local horse track/casino.....not looking forward to it.

Hi everyone, just wanted to check in real quick to let you know everything came back normal with my daughter's blood work. So grateful and relieved. Thank you all for your prayers
Taking my youngest to a make up swim class now, but will be back later. Hugs to you all xxx

Work over. Nap over. Need to decide what I want to cook for dinner. Listening to some Bobby Womack. Been in a late-60s/early-70s soul music mood for the last few days for some reason.
I should probably go to an AA meeting tonight or tomorrow night. I don't think I've been since I had that whole tree branch in the face incident coming home from one, and that's been a couple of weeks. I don't know--I just haven't been focusing as much on sobriety/recovery the last little while, as is probably evident from my lessening participation here lately. I haven't felt like drinking or anything like that, I just haven't felt like thinking so hard about not drinking. if that makes any sense. Anyways, I probably need to watch myself. While everything is going OK, I'm still pretty early in my sobriety and need to keep doing the things that have gotten me to this OK point. Don't want to get complacent.
Sorry you're not having a good day/days, Fabela. Glad you checked in though. We may not be as chatty as we once were, but we're still here if you need us. Please don't ever be afraid to post. And you're not hopeless. I've seen plenty of hope filled, helpful days/moments from you over the last 3.5 months. Hang in there, the depression will lift again.
Glad the doggie is feeling better, Samantha. A horse race/casino event certainly doesn't sound like a great place to be in early sobriety. I'm guessing non-attendance isn't an option?
Sorry your family stinks at soccer, Bobbieka. Glad you had fun anyways. I'm probably not going to join in on UTI. I've looked it over before and it didn't strike me as my cup of tea. I just don't care for the more self-help-y/medical advice type of alcoholism books. But I know others here on SR have gotten a lot out of it so I hope you all will share anything you find helpful from it.
That's wonderful news about the buglet, Ladybug! Hope she is having a nice summer vacation now that she's feeling better too. Congrats on another day sober!
I'm glad that IOP is helping, KiKi. Thank you for the nice post addressing everyone.
Love your rambling about the remove your thanks button, Lillian. Made me laugh. Hope your day is going well.
Wishing you the best on the job front, clearlyheaded. Hope you get some definitive news very soon.
Always nice to see you check in, beerbgone. I've been watching more Big Bang Theory lately. Never really seen the last couple of seasons before. I've decided Penny is an alcoholic. She always turns to drinking when things aren't going good.
I like the new goat in space picture, Spacegoat. Congrats on day 23!
Hope your day is going well, ManInTheArena.
27 days is awesome, Missy. Congrats on finding a sponsor.
Sorry if I missed anyone else who's checked in over the last 16-18 hours or so. Time to put on some trousers and go to the grocery store. I'll give the wine/beer aisle the good ol' Casey middle fingered salute for all of us.
Remember it's the first drink that's the problem drink. You don't have to take that first drink no matter what is going on in your head or your life.

Ladybug - great news about buglet!!! So glad her results came back clear. Is she feeling better?
Kiki - glad you are feeling better today.
Sam - glad Charlie is feeling better . I have to take my pup to the vet for an allergy shot at 7:15 am Saturday (yikes!). He gets seasonal summer allergies AND has food allergies. Poor guy.
Casey - thinking about recovery all the time is hard. I'd rather just not think about it and feel like not drinking, which works when I don't feel like drinking. Not so much when I do feel like it. Is this about the time you stopped doing things that worked for you last time around?

HUGS, Fabela! Have a safe and awesome trip ~ and check in when you can!
So glad to be here sober for another day with all of you. Sorry I don't post individually, but I think about you guys all the time. Got another long day tomorrow, so I'll hop over to the 24 hour forum then turn in for the evening. Thanks again everyone!
