Class of February 2016 Part 19
Just call me the Sober Son.
Mom dropped by my house while I was at work and dropped off wedding stuff. Six months ago there would have been beer cans in the back yard from where I threw them off the deck the night before, beer cans and bottles on the deck railing, and cans and vodka bottles all over the kitchen. Now, my place is messy because of remodeling, but no alcohol on the premises. It's nice being sober and not having to keep secrets. There's nothing like it. I think today is day 140 for me.

Reporting for roll call. All is well on my watch. No distention amongst the troops. Teamwork seems to be in good working order. Taps lights out so time to get a little shuteye. Up at zero dark thirty.
A little too much no???? Jimmy

Morning all! EU voting day for the UK today. Just dyed my hair, then gonna vote, then catch up with GoT. I've got two whole episodes to watch.
Lee - If they don't want you to be happy then they're not good friends anyway.
PHRD - I've never tried non-alcoholic beer but mocktails are the BEST!
OOTT - Truth, having to hide drinking was exhausting. I couldn't keep up with all the lies I was telling.

How is my week going? Thanks for asking. Would you think I was crazy if I said I have been thinking of taking Latin dancing lessons? I am in pretty good shape, but last time I tried to dance my friend said I looked like I was having a seizure . . .
I can finally breathe a little. Got the suitcases so the girls are happy and I have tamped down most of the fires that started in my absence. We had a good time on vacation and I got to relax a little.
OT - This is a big vote. The world, financial anyway, is watching with great interest.
OOTT. Day 141 for us. How is the yard looking? You getting excited about the wedding? Is this your first wedding? First for her? Big wedding? Sorry. I got carried away there. Exciting stuff.

Hey everyone,
Still day 115.
OT: You are right about the friends thing. It just sucks because they are childhood friends and I don't mind them drinking at all. I know them like family, and if I had to wager, I'd think they are not worried about me judging them, because I am not the judgmental type, but rather in my presence they would feel weird about just how much they drink (all very heavy drinkers).
Also, you are SOOO correct about mocktails. When I visited Manhattan on my 40th birthday I went to a well-known restaurant and decided that I wanted to experience the food instead of being drunk. I got the non-alcoholic pairing and it was AMAZING. The bartender really enjoyed making the drinks and I remember they were all so different: a cucumber "martini", a bloody bull (like a bloody Mary, not sure the difference), a "gin" and tonic (just their tonic that they make in house), pinot grape juice, and several others. I think I had a different small "drink" with every course. The bartender loved being creative.
Badger: I think 360 was taking a break, if I remember correctly. I don't think it had anything to do with drinking (I hope).
I had my second urge to drink today, but it was fleeting. I was freaking out because I get all 4 of my summer checks at once, and due to the bureaucracy of the school board, they had only entered in 3. I was freaking. I had this intense urge to drink, so FOR ONCE I just asked myself why? It had everything to do with feeling out of control and just wanting to numb myself to the situation. Then I asked what good it would do and what the repercussions would be tomorrow.......then the urge totally vanished. I am glad it happened. Things like this keep me on my toes as I am 5 days away from the sacred day 120.
Hope everyone is great. Be good and be strong.
