Great effort OMD! Managed 10km myself this morning. Trying to get back into my running but there always seems to be something more urgent on the list. Need to reprioritise I think!

Hmm... I like that. How about me meet to climb a mountain. I'd love to climb everest. At least to base camp. But little to chilly.

Maybe Mt. Kilimanjaro. I'm sure we can find some place awesome. Given my budget issues though, it would have to be in North America. Maybe in 5yrs or so my situation will be different.

Thanks SG. I actually found the event quite hard. I was translating the wine experts spots live on a stage. They were uncorking the bottles and tasting and then the bottles were left virtually untouched backstage. My co-presenter was enjoying getting into the wines (which were apparently excellent) as were the sound crew some of who I knew from my previous incarnation as a fringe musician and all in all good time Charlie! There was a fair bit of social pressure. I couldn't get away with the "I'm driving" card as it was only a taste and people knew I was on my push bike (which you'd normally get away with even if you've had a couple). In the end I just said that I don't drink. That put an end to it. I'm not ashamed of the new me so people might as well get used to it.

The wines did look really nice though :-/

You're right there Dee. While the wines looked nice, I was 100% aware of the danger they represented. I actually felt a little proud of myself as I left thinking of how far I've come... but then I remembered to check myself on that too because pride comes before a fall!!!

Staying sober is a huge mental agility obstacle course sometimes!!! Phew!!!

I am glad that you made it through the event.

It is a rude wake up call sometimes realizing that even after a year and a half not drinking, alcohol still has a mysterious allure for us. It's that bright and shiny thing that we just can't look away from. Just visualizing your table full of open wine bottles got my AV filling my brain with visions of how good a glass would be. And it's only 8:00 am here.

It's crazy how something so destructive can still have such a hold. This truly is a mental agility course that we all are on!

I am applying for another life insurance policy since my kids are still young enough to need support for a while. The insurance agent asked me if I drank, and I said not in 18 months. He said that he would put me down as a non drinker! It's the first time that anyone officially has called me that!

Hopefully, I can save a little money too!

Hi guys! I'm sorry for not checking in, in what seems like months. All is well here. Work is keeping me busy, which is good. We had a very nice thanksgiving at home...the last of the turkey was used in the stir fry last night, and today we had fetuccini alfredo! A nice change!

Hugs! MIss you all. I think I'll down load the app again...and just check in that way. Even a quick hello will keep me grounded here. I am not struggling now, but I also don't want to loose focus.

Well, we have hockey tomorrow morning so lights out.

Nice to see you Cauliflower. I too used to be much more active on SR. The fact that this has tumbled down the list of priorities is, in one sense, a good sign as it means we are relaxed and comfortable in sobriety. On the other hand, it won't do to take it for granted! I'm making a point of staying engaged... Never know when AV is going to pop up!
