Yay Amp!

So I had stopped exercising about a month ago. By diet started getting real bad too. Then came the feelings that I'm not bad ass. Even though it's hard to ignore that fact.

Yesterday, I woke up 30min early and took a hard walk. That's what started me off last time. Today, I made myself walk further. Baby steps. It worked last time, and it's working already. I can feel the desire to do it again. And I already feel my awesomeness

I imagine it is challenging finding time to exercise with all the traveling you are doing Inc. I tend to work a descending schedule, so I am usually working 10 hour shifts with 10 hours in between. It doesn't leave a lot of time for working out.

Just finished doing a couple hundred sit ups and ab crunches. I least I did something to start my day!

Have a great day all!

Part of working at my new centre means that the best way to get there is by bike. Only 15mins each way but it's something and so much better than sitting in a car!

I don't know about you, but a workout of any kind sets the tone for the day. I end up feeling fabulous like I have super hero powers!

Happy first day of Fall for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. Cauli, I checked the weather for your locale, and it looks like the first day of Winter! The first day of a new season is like a clean slate for me. I know it's silly, but it amuses me.

Have a great day all!

Hello everybody. Been with a big drinking crowd over the last couple of days. One guy even asked me during the day yesterday if I might have one or two last night. Guess I'm the party pooper.

Ah well, homeward bound on Sat, home for Sunday

Hope all is well with you all.

Best wishes

Glad to hear your long business trip is finally winding down. It must be tiring dealing with a big drinking clientel all of the time. Hang in there!

Thanks Sg. I won't lie to you, I have been thinking about drinking a lot for the last few days. I need to get out of this environment - it's not healthy for me.

Thanks D, that's much appreciated. You're right of course it is exactly that. But it's also a cultural expectation - I think I explained that before - so that makes it hard. Anyway I just survived the last dinner meeting. Before dinner we went to a whisky bar. Seriously, nothing but whisky. Great. Then to a place that specializes in beer. One disapproving look after another but I stood my ground.

Anyway, it's done.

This class is far enough from our final car crashes of pre April 2015 that some of our memories of the terror has faded a bit around the edges and we sometimes wonder to ourselves if things were really as bad as we seem to think they were.

Now is not the time to put on the rose covered glasses and think that maybe things will be better this time if we give the ole drink another shot. That's why I have been focusing on learning more about addiction, reading books and listening to recovery podcasts. Our brains underwent neurological changes during our heavy drinking that do not get repaired after stopping. We will always be susceptible, unfortunately, to the pull of our AVs. Just understanding that fact has helped pull me through the moments when I thought maybe one drink wouldn't be too bad.

Great job for seeing through that OMD!

Have a great day all!

Thanks SG. Truth is, I'm actually too afraid to drink again. I probably would if I thought I could get away with it. But I just know I couldn't. At least my daily life doesn't require putting myself in this sort of situation. Most often I can just do breakfast meetings.

OMD, I can relate. I am very afraid to drink again....I know where it will lead and I just can't go back there. So glad you are safe and sound and made it through!

SG, you made me laugh about the weather here...it's changing quickly, but not quite winter yet! It's crispy in mornings, but if the sun is out, it's beautifully warm in the afternoon.

Today was our annual Terry Fox Run at the beach and it was a gorgeous day for a run. I remember last years run, I felt great because I was finally gaining strength and confidence in myself at 5 months sober. Soon, the memories will roll in and we will remember being SOBER a year ago! Kinda cool!

Have a good weekend guys! xo

I understand the cultural expectation (assuming you mean other cultures and not just 'the boys') but I also remember the kind of drunk I used to be and I reckon that would be far more disrespectful and insulting.

We have a medical reason not to drink - we don't want to die

Thanks Cauli and Dee. I very much appreciate everyone's supportiveness. Yes, we're talking about that cultural habit that really has nothing to do with being one of the boys as such. I used to drink sociably and then go back to my hotel and drink more on my own. Anyway, this is just the way it is now.

I am leaving that environment shortly, back in October, and obviously I can handle it. It's just a bit sad really - I am not remorseful, just the situation as a whole seems a bit sad. I actually don't mind being sober in that I don't miss alcohol, it's just making people feel uncomfortable that is not great.

Anyway, enough of that.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, whatever you're doing. As I said, I am homeward bound which is great

Best wishes
