Class of July 2013 Part 33
Good morning Dee.
I LOVED reading this Leshar!!! Woot woot, so happy for you.
And nice to see you again LuLu.
Love to all the Julyers. ♥
Hi all,
Opening night last night. It went quite well. The guy choked a couple of times, but I rescued him. The director afterwards said to go over our lines before the show tomorrow, which is fine by me.
I was very nervous, but it feels good to hear the audience laughing and responding. That's what makes it all worthwhile! I've found that with acting, you really have to stay in the moment, listen and be present. It's something I'm embracing more in my sober life too!

Great news, Leshar. I loved what you said about being in the moment too.
Snooz, glad you seem well. I've missed posts here and there, so I'm assuming the split has happened and you are now securely staying at your friends place at Gawler. You are lucky to have that opportunity and support from your friend in what must be a difficult time, staying sober and getting throught he break up.

Good job, Wolfie!
The guy choked again today, jeez, I'm getting good at improvising!
One thing that bothered both me and my fellow actress. Each of us has a long, sweet speech where we are reminiscing about how we met our husbands. The third actress chose to ham it up, pretending to be really drunk while each of us was talking. The audience thought it was funny and laughed and it was really distracting to me and the other gal. It shows this woman is not in her character because she's supposed to be quiet as she reflects on the fact that she didn't have a good marriage, that her husband cheated on her. She was just playing for cheap laughs. To me, getting into character is so important. The first gal said to me afterwards, "I could've strangled her, she's such a ham." I hope the director speaks to this woman. Anyway, community theatre! It's all a learning experience!
Three more shows!
Hope everyone is doing well.

She sounds like a ham, Leshar...she's learned to divert the audiences attention to her, which is good for her but bad for the other actors and the play.
A good director would have stamped that out quicksmart...
