Especially in conditions like this; it's not just hot it's heat stroke territory if one is not careful. Although annoyed at myself for not getting out early today there's no way I'm going to run in this heat. Getting on a treadmill at my gym is an option, but I hate indoor cardio and since I'm not training for a race I'm not motivated enough to overcome my aversion.
That written I have run a few races in conditions close to this. I've had the misfortune to run in the hottest recorded races in the NJ Marathon, the Key Bank City Marathon in Burlington, VT, and the Amica Half Marathon in Simbsbury CT. In each of them the temperature touched 90F with high humidity. Brutal and people were dropping like flies which is incredibly unnerving to see. The constant sound of ambulance sirens wasn't exactly a stress reliever either. In the CT race when me and my wife were at about mile 10 the police and race organizers drove the course telling people to stop running because the triage area was full and there were no additional ambulances available to take anyone to local hospitals. We slowed our already slow pace, but continued to run.
For some reason I "attract" weather extremes because I've also run in the coldest Philadelphia Marathon and the coldest Marine Corps Marathon.

Proud Papa Moment
My son once again kicked butt in school last semester and got a 3.9 GPA. Since he didn't get straight A's we're no longer going to pay his tuition. Our weekly town newspaper is delivered on Thursdays and there was a small blurb about him in it today. Although I've known about this for a few weeks, it was nice to see his achievement in the paper.

Congratulations to your son and to you and Mrs. GC for your excellent parenting and support.

Today
Not wanting to be a lazy bum two days in a row, I woke up early and went for a run around 6:30. The temperature was already in the mid 70F/21C area with almost 90% humidity so I was pretty darn sweat drenched in a short amount of time, but the conditions weren't going to get any better as the day progressed so there was no upside to waiting until later in the day.
Dinner tonight is going to be St. Louis cut ribs with coleslaw. We have no social plans tonight so it should be an early evening which will allow me and my wife to be well rested for a gym workout tomorrow AM before we head to a graduation party for my niece.

More seriously, I've given this a lot of thought over the years. We rarely go out on weekdays, but our weekends are normally filled with social activities, all of which I enjoy. So, why the incorrect characterization or incongruity? My belief is it's because when we don't have plans my default position is to stay home and do whatever such as read or listen to music. Other people, many of whom like to read and listen to music as much as I do have the default position that they have to be out.
Friday
My ribs are happily smoking away, coleslaw is made and chilling, turkey breast is sliced, and my daughter and I have been working our way through the gazpacho. As long as I don't forget about the ribs I'm golden regarding food stuff for the day, key words being the first nine in the sentence.
Circling back to the subject of the first paragraphs of this post, plans for the evening have changed; my wife and I are going to see Finding Dory. The theatre is in walkable distance so there will be a modicum of exercise involved and another evening out for this "homebody."

Today
My wife and I survived another Saturday morning stamina/strength class. We're now getting ready to attend my niece's HS graduation party.

SL: I'm somewhere in the middle about how I feel about Finding Dory; there were some chuckles and the emphasis of the underlying themes was brought out well, but it doesn't come close to the standards of its predecessor. Pixar Studios once again comes through with wonderful visuals, but there were times when I thought there was too much repetitive reliance on jokes and lazy dialogue and that quickly got old. Further, in a movie where one has to suspend reality to begin with, there were scenes toward the end where I thought things went too far. Knowing what I know now I doubt I would have gone to the theatre to watch the movie and instead waited until it was released to the (free) cable outlets.
For the record, my wife liked it more than I did, but agrees that it wasn't nearly as good as Finding Nemo.
Yesterday and Today
Lots of fun at yesterday's party. Okay-ish choices regarding food and portion control and while my hydration was a bit subpar, my drink of choice was water so all is good there.
I went for a run this morning and assuming the weather holds up we're going to a nearby lake this afternoon after my wife gets back from the gym.

The lake is out as we're staying close to home. We'll be going on a hike in the woods at the top of my block and then spend the balance of the afternoon chillaxing in the backyard.
Dinner tonight is going to be Old Bay infused pasta that I just finished making, pan seared shrimp in garlic lemon butter, and a salad.

Thanks. When my breathing is impaired it's a totally different experience at the gym.
You're welcome.
Food
I'm thinking of making pizza dough this afternoon so that it will be ready for later in the week. For some reason, the thought of making a clams casino pizza pie has popped into my head so I may have to scratch that itch and make one.

No pizza dough was made today. We're going out to dinner and a concert on Wednesday with some friends who are insisting on going to a gourmet pizza place in town so I'll put off my efforts for another time.
