Hey Wolf!

Sassy,

VKitty,

Dee man,

FBL,
Wow! You got to meet some legends and spend some personal time with them, hey - what a job!

RZ,
How did you come to be playing with the McCoys? Amazing. We really have some awesome folks here in a variety of climes and times.

Hello FG, and all the ships at sea.

Our first grandson came today after all the girls only but no boys for my oldest, my youngest decided to have a child at 39 after they thought they wanted no child, changed their minds, and now the Itchy name goes forward. We Skyped and the baby got to show off live! Ain't technology wunnerful! We were all up late for the delivery.

Congratulations Itchy, a grandson how wonderful.

All ok in Tootsville, I spoke to Gene Wilder on the phone once, does that count as a claim to fame? Oh, and The Drifters were sharing our B&B one weekend we were visiting Dundee, and we saw them in the bar after their gig, must have been about 15 years ago?

Oh yeah, that counts love.

I met Daryl Braithwaite and had a drink with him years ago....might not mean anything to anyone other than Dee.

It was pretty funny actually, because I was a mad mad Sherbet fan (his band), and we went to Countdown (ABC live music show) almost every Saturday, desperate for tickets to get in if Sherbet were playing. And my best friend and I bought gifts. Of course we did, we were love-sick 12-year olds.

Long story short, Daryl had kept some of the gifts, and had his favourites in a display cabinet in his house.
I had *ehem* given him a lighter engraved with something....I can't remember what now....something creative like Daryl 4 ever, Love Sue...no idea....It was a while ago. Anyway, he still had it. I was both honoured and embarrassed.

Itch, congrats on the Grandson!

Zip, tell us more! Did ya get to to play "Hang On Sloopy"???

V, I thought I was the only one here who knew of Sherbet (aka The Sherbs). I loved Braithwaite's 1991 solo hit "Higher Than Hope" too. Cool beans that you got to meet him

Toots, cool that you got to talk to Gene Wilder. I've talked on the phone to some artists that are in our books...even got yelled at once by Irene Cara!

Speaking of books, I've got one to put to bed in the next couple of days and another one in the hopper, due this summer. Busy, busy, busy, but that's the way I like it.

Have a Terrific/Tolerable Tuesday, gang!

we did play hang on sloopy fbl, and it was a great version

rick did a solo to die for, the following week rick was in the johnny winter and band

a perfect story for SR itch

our band was warm-up band

ricks drummer OD'd on LSD, he was taken to the local hospital

ricks managed was in a panic,, he asked if i know what i'm doing

i said, hey bub, i got booked with the warmup band, so i cant be all that bad!

he took me in the dressing room, introduced me to rick

rick said were doing some blues stuff, hang on sloopy and a few other hit

he then said give me a chicka-chicka-chicka-chicka wham and hop on in

that was the first time rock & roll hootchie coo was played out

one of my all time fave derringer hits

rick is a hell of a nice guy too

I am constantly amazed and humbled to be a a part of this group of such awesomely talented people. Really.

Over and over I wonder about the connection between creativity and genius and addiction. But I don't let it keep me awake at night. I am just in awe, and thankful for all of you.

Books FBL? I missed that...one coming out and another in the works. Very cool. Congratulations! ♥
And impressed that you know Sherbet. The Sherbs was part their later days, a lot of changes and not easy for the hardcore early fans to handle.

Ah....memories....such an awesome time.

Fantastic story, Zip, I loved it!

Venus, thought I sent you the radio show from last fall where I talked about my job? Let me know if you want me to re-send you the link.

Grandpa Itchy, congrats!

Hmmm - famous people? I once met Richard Benjamin and Myrna Loy (probably well before your time!). Let's see - a vp at CBS, Carl Sagan ....

I think that's about it. The rest of my life has been rather uneventful

RUSTY--STFU. What a great story.
My friend's dad drove Richard Prior and his wife to the airport in a taxi in Vancouver in the eighties. He asked him if he had anything to eat, my friend's mom had packed him a lunch, so Richard Prior ate my friend's mom's sandwich!
My favourite star-sighting is Samantha Mathis in a Lush cosmetics store in Vancouver. I was working in the store and was wrestling with myself the whole time about whether to say anything. Pump up the Volume! River Pheonix!!!! I didn't say anything but she so knew I recognized her because I'm the most awkward person ever.
I tried meditation this morning. I think I might try to do it more, I need something.
My life is rather at loose ends at the moment, or really it's my perspective of it that is at loose ends. I went and applied for a job in a super northern location, because I like to complicate my life. But it's a news agency I've tried and failed to work for in the past so I had to apply when I saw the listing, and I'm more experienced now I guess, so he called me right back. And sounds pretty interested in hiring me actually. Meanwhile I just picked up another little freelance contract, designing a media kit.
Yargh.
Love the variety of celebrity encounters on here.
