Morning all

Ultra that's so correct - a far, far better place than 2014. That will really help me to think that way. There's a lot to be thankful for !

I got a 9 hour sleep in last night which was very refreshing - must be work stress lifting

All is good otherwise, feeling much better and wishing you all a great day

Happy Tuesday kids!

Great post ultra. I looked through my phone at some pics yesterday from early 2014. Boy, I do not miss the reality of the good times I think I may be missing every once in a while. I wished I could go back in time and slap me actually!

Rest changes your world London, glad you are feeling better my man.

Let's keep moving toward the life we really want for ourselves. Let's be our potential.

Greetings,

Pink, PLEASE do not ever think you are burdening us. You have helped each one of us countless times. I am confident I am speaking for all the team when I say we are here for you, and if you need to vent, scream, rant, whatever, we are here for you.

Ultra, you are so right - we are so much better off now. Reading the April,2016 thread really helps me realize how much so.

Determined, I do not want to see any pre-2015 photos of me - at least not the previous 25 years!!!

Dry, great to hear from you as always. There is beer and wine at two of the grocery stores I go to - weird, I rarely, if ever, bought any, so it does not bother me. I had a fairly large number of liquor stores that I visited - none more than once a week EXCEPT the local gas station/convenience store, where I went to top off for the evening when I ran out. I ran into the owner once at the mall, and she showed no sign of recogntion. She must think I am dead! The store is on the corner of the road leading into my development, and I have not been in for anything - candy, gas, chips NOTHING since August, 2014. Sometimes I wonder what she thinks - we spoke on almost a daily basis - you know, the kind of talk when you are trying to appear sober- since I retired, and many times before that when I came down for weekends and beach time...so, after buying beer and/or wine there for roughly 25 years, I suddenly disappeared with no explanation.

Choobie, how are you?

Grateful, we would love to hear from you.

Take care, my friends.

Happy hump day guys!

Great post scooter. I like what you wrote about the pretending to be sober conversations. Oh boy, been there!

Week is going well so far, enjoying the sounds and smells of the rain this morning.

Have a great day guys.

Greetings!

I am on my way to book club, and in a way I am hoping the BookClub Witch acts up - we could all use a good laugh! Of course, I don't think anything could beat the time she was reprimanded at work and told not to purposely eat spicy foods at lunch because of the consequences.......

We just finished The Nightingale - an excellent read.

Let's keep on keeping on!

Happy Saturday kids! How is everyone today?

Feeling a bit of a head cold or allergy, so going through my morning ritual to get my mood in check. I think it is important for us all to choose our mood as much as we can. Not easy, but a quick gratitude check and a look at the beauty around you can usually do the trick.

"That this will never come again is what makes life so sweet." Emily Dickinson

Take a step towards that thing you have been dreaming about today.

But be sure to wear some really cool shoes.

It's a nice sunny day here in London. Not doing much this weekend but it's a Bank Holiday on Monday which is great

Hope that head cold goes away quick determined! You are right on taking a look around and remembering the good things 😀 I also believe you can choose your mood to affect the day you are going to have

Wishing everyone a great day.

Hello to all!

One of my new goals is to get back to posting here. I just read through all your recent posts. I really miss y'all! It is so comforting here, good friends are good for the soul.

I have been posting here and there on the 24-hour recovery thread. Want to recommit to consistent, daily posting.

I have so much change in my life right now. Last month one of my best friends in recovery died, she was only 32 years old and had two young sons. I was consumed with grief for several weeks, still so sad but the overwhelming depression is slowly lifting.

I do have some really wonderful things happening with my children--extreme gratitude for all the good things they are experiencing now. It has been a rough ride for them the last few years.

Unemployed now which is terrifying yet excited about the possibility of a much brighter future. Was depressed about it at first but a dear friend helped me with some job-seeking tips today so now I feel much more optimistic.

I have also had terrible insomnia lately, still struggling with loneliness at night. I have been much more social lately but at night it is still so hard for me when my children are with their Dad.

I have not been gone from here because of drinking, although I honestly I have not been completely sober this whole time either. It is difficult to admit this but I feel relieved to be able to talk about it here. I do not want to drink ever again. I need to re-group and create a stronger recovery plan, right now I am trying to keep it simple and just taking it one day at a time making sobriety my main priority. Posting here will help so I hope I can still be a part of this wonderful group. I'm thinking of also joining the April 2016 group also as a way to keep myself accountable. Interesting that you have been following that group ScooterBoo. I am angry with myself for not just staying sober before with all of your support. However, I know if I stay in that shame it will do even more harm, just need to start from here and move forward.

Grateful for each of you! xo

Greetings!

Grateful, I am very happy to hear from you. Welcome back! I have been following the April thread; I started when I saw that one of our former team members was posting; now I am hooked on reading it. There are at least three people on it that were part of our group when we started. There are a number of people posting that they were members of former months, fell off the wagon, went into a tailspin, and now are trying again. I wonder if they would be in a better place if they had come right back aboard after slipping. It certainly reinforces the fact that just one drink could lead to disaster as a common theme is that they had reached a point where they were doing so well they were sure they could have a drink or two with no problem, and that thought lead to disaster.

I agree that we can change our moods, and for me, exercising first thing in the morning really helps.

I am going to the Red Sox / Yankees game tonight, and we are staying over in Boston because the game starts at 8:00. Red Sox games have never been a trigger for me - the idea of spending $8-$10 on a plastic cup of watery draft beer has never appealed to me. Last year I was amazed at how much money people spent on drink after drink. This is my third game this season, and I did not really notice how much people were drinking the first two games - but, part of that is because we have new seats and do not have to constantly get up for people to get by us!

Let's keep on keeping on.

Bug hugs!

Hey guys

A happy and peaceful Sunday to you all

Hi Grateful ! Great to see you ! I don't think there is any need to be angry with yourself. It's a great decision to start daily postings again in all the threads you said. It keeps me on the straight and narrow just to check in and I think some of my crazy thinking about drinking a couple of weeks ago was down to not posting. Sorry you have had some ups and downs, you can do this and deserve a happy and contented life.

Scooter enjoy the football game!

I have been out and about in London today and went with some friends to watch football (soccer) in the pub which was fine. Back at home now which is good as tomorrow is a public holiday mending lots of drinking going on out there. It's nice to be back at home and ready for a night of TV. Tomorrow I plan t head to the cinema to see Captain America. Love that Chris Evans guy! Ha ha

Wishing you all a great day

Happy sunday gang! Late post for me today.

Great to hear from you grateful! Getting back to posting with us and the new class is the way to do it. Like London said, not working on your recovery daily let's those crazy thoughts come back. You can do this my friend.

Off to dinner and then to pack for a business trip tomorrow. Two big presentations this week. I will use the travel time to study and prepare, I plan to kick some ass and knock 'em dead.

Here's to a great week guys.

Eye on the prize kids!

Happy Monday guys and gals!

Getting ready for a great week. Monday mornings are a good time to pause and reflect, then get that attitude of gratitude pumped and ready to go!

Good to hear from you Greatfull!

My son has become a Red Sox fan Scooter. He's going to a game Friday in NY.

I'm still private messaging with an individual who's going through a really challenging time moderating. It reminds me of where I was for far too long.

Lets keep doing the right stuff Team!

It's Tuesday and it's sunny! Yey!

I had a nice extra day off for the Bank Holiday yesterday. I went to watch the Captain America film which was great and then my football team Leicester won the English title yesterday which is amazing!

Heading into work a little later today but I am feeling ready for this weeks challenges

Hope you all have a great day

Greetings,

It is cold, raw and rainy on the Cape. I don't know if it is my allergies, or staying up and out way too late Sunday night at the Red Sox game in the miserable weather, but I do not feel well today at all. I have become such a baby health-wise in sobriety. Since I wake feeling great 99% of the time, something like this throws me for a loop. I don't know how I managed to survive waking hungover so, so many times!

Ultra, I am going to Yankee Stadium in July - but I certainly won't wear any Red Sox gear. Those NY fans are something else. There were a number of them at the game Sunday night, and we saw two being lead out by the Boston police, and there were two young women near us who were given a warning by the police as they were well into their cups and trying to start something with a group of young men near them who only wanted to watch the game.

I am going to the Y to swim to see if that makes me feel better; if not, I will spend the day reading and resting.

Let's keep on keeping on.
