Good morning Jannies. Another busy day starting with a mammogram (yuk, need I say more, ladies?) and an interview this afternoon. I have a physical scheduled for tomorrow morning, as I scramble to catch up on everything I have neglected for the past several years.

Wishing everyone a stress free, sober Thursday (or Friday), carry on!

Ouch, hope it goes well. I read a while back that they will be coming out with a less painful and more effective means of checking breast health in the future. (I believe it's called Thermography.)

Good luck with all of your errands and I hope it is stress free for you as well!

Greetings, ya'll. Hope everyone is having a great day!

It's been a few days since I've posted, but things are going well here. Day 60 is right around the corner; however, the significance of counting days is really abating. The obsession to drink keeps fading, and I find myself focusing on 'not forgetting' how bad it had gotten as I continue to feel better mentally, psychologically, and physically.

If anyone recalls, I was having heart palpitations for quite some time after the physical withdrawal from alcohol ended. It took forever to get into a heart specialist, but I finally saw the doctor yesterday. Of course, I hadn't had a palpitation in over a week prior to the appointment yesterday. I kept the appointment because it took several weeks to get a spot. Anyway, the cardiologist ordered an echocardiogram and a stress test, which made zero sense to me because I told him the palpitations always happened at night when I laid down (why walk on a treadmill for an hour if it never happened during exercise in the past?). Anyway, I'm no doctor, but that appointment was less than assuring or convincing. They gave me no reason for why those tests were ordered/recommended or what the results of the EKG they did were. Hard to want to pay three more co-pays and whatever my insurance doesn't cover with zero information or apparent concern.

Anyone else have experience with cardiologists? Are they all that unhelpful? My wife said all the heart doctors are asses on Grey's Anatomy

Didn't mean for that to be so long! Take care everyone!

Doctors make u feel like a herd of cattle don't they Zeebs? You sure have to be your own advocate these days that's for sure. The tests seem inappropriate (to a point) but I'm no doc either. These days I think it's more about the money. ....Run the cate thru for series of unnecessary tests! Anyway, good luck!

My husband said today that it's so nice sleeping all the way thru the night. We used to wake up around 3am for a good hour or so. Annoying!
Our dentist takes our blood pressure. Husband was in and she commented about his BP and pulse being quite lower. He said it's from not drinking (surprised he said that). Anyway, all good. Mine are usually low thank goodness (but they were creeping up for sure).

All I really know is that DRUNK IS NO WAY TO LIVE. ....

Had the best workout at the gym I've had on years. Finally back to feeling like myself.

Thanks Olivia! I totally agree, that appointment felt like it was all about the money/patient bookings. (We'll do this test on Tuesday, this one on Thursday, maybe another Friday, and a follow-up the next week) "What the hell? Can't any of these be combined and completed on the same day? And, why are you recommending them?!" - Me

Pretty crazy how much your BP and pulse goes down after not drinking, eh? Both my BP and pulse were dangerously high when I was in the hospital for detox. Now they're perfectly normal.

Caramel, before I found SR I was on a site where fights and insults would break out fairly regularly.

I'm grateful for this place where everyone is treated with love, compassion, and understanding. Thank you moderators and members for making it happen. I wouldn't be able to do this without SR.

Good morning everyone. Just as I thought spring was around the corner, I woke up to a big snow dump overnight. I'm so looking forward to warmer weather.
I'm alright. i'm devastated by the failure of our latest attempt to have a baby. If that's not enough, it's followed by the worst cramps ever! I was very close to going to hospital. A cruel trick of nature. Anyway, still not drinking or smoking. Admittedly it has been a little tempting. AV was trying for pain relief last night. It didn't work.
I'm with you Sunflower, "when will I feel kinda normal?"
Hope you are enjoying your days. Keep strong and carry on.

Evening all. 70 days done.

<- treated myself to a new custom title doohickey to celebrate. :P

Got an interesting weekend ahead. I've a friend staying who is 4 years sober. We both slipped into alcoholism after suffering the same traumatic event 10 years ago. He was able to get a grip on it earlier than me. So we haven't spent much time together in the past 4 years because I was still drinking. Should be good to catch up.

Hope everyone is doing well and powering through. Some scarily big numbers feel within reach! Peace to all. X

Sorry to hear that Sandy. Have experienced similar in the past. (Wife had a m/c about 10 months ago.) all I can say is... Stay strong and keep trying. This sort of thing is far more common than people think. My wife put herself through hell, blaming herself, when most times it is literally just nature and there's nothing you can do.

Thanks MAV. It's only natural to blame ourselves. Makes us feel a little less like a women. We won't give up though. I hope your wife is feeling better. Thanks for your thoughts.

Unfortunately I have become very familiar with cardiologists this year! I was having issues where my heart rate would shoot up to 250 beats per minute, and it was causing me to be dizzy and actually pass out a few times.

They did an EKG and stress test, and had me wear a Holter monitor for a week. They couldn't pinpoint it and the first cardiologist tried to blame menopause, and was rather condescending. I requested a second opinion, and she asked me why I questioned the first cardiologist. I was very frustrated at this point.

I filed a grievance and requested an outside opinion, which didn't happen, but they did send me to the head of Cardiology, and EP (Electrophysiology). He was/is fantastic!

In January they did an EP study and heart ablation because there was an area on the right side of my heart that was taking over and shooting off its own signals and causing the excessively high heart rate. He did an ablation, which burned off those heart cells, basically killing them. There is another area that was too dangerous to get to and he has started me on a beta blocker for that.

I have to be careful because my blood pressure is very low, so I take medication to increase that, and then another to decrease my heart rate.

If you don't feel right still, be pushy!!!

❤️ Delilah

Hey Thump---Congratulations on Day 40!!

(((Sandy)))

Zeebs & Delilah----no experience with heart issues but that is scary when you see an expert for a health issue and you don't receive clear answers right away. Good for you Delilah that you pushed and found some resolution. I would be ticked off too if a Dr. blamed my heart issues on menopause?? Good luck Zeebs with all of your tests (if you decide to proceed) and wishing you an early 60 Day Congrats!!

Take care Jannies....night all.
