24 Hour Recovery Connections Part 112
Do you have the phone app Neo? I use it a lot when my AV strikes and I am out and about- my January class has helped me multiple times when I thought I was going to drink and all I had to do was ask for help.
Stay positive and stay busy this weekend- make a plan for the times you are worried about and check in with us!

11.15am UK time, another 24! I saw a patient the other day with end-stage alcoholic liver disease. He had been abstinent for about two months after a hospital admission with acute ascites (swollen stomach with fluid, due to liver failure) but it was too late. Unfortunately he has no contact with his family I imagine due to his drinking. His housing officer rang up and said she thought he'd been drinking again as he was confused. When I went round to the house he was confused and slurring his words, but there was no smell of alcohol. He was yellow. His liver was packing in and affecting his brain- it's called encephalopathy. He was pleasant and polite but clearly not well. I admitted him to hospital but am not sure he'll come out. Realistically, if he survives this, he'll need a transplant. He's 57. Really sad. Seeing people like that makes me so glad I'm here, and so glad for everyone else is here with me, who have made the decision to stop before we get to that stage.

Hi everyone hope everyone is having a good day/night so far. There's no thank you button on my mobile version I will be sure to catch up properly later.
I've been shopping in the city this morning and got an overwhelming compulsion to pop into a bar; something I would sometimes do if I don't have my car.
Got my favourite iced coffee to go instead and now on the bus home. I should feel ecstatic that I resisted but I feel somehow deflated? My day two is going to be tough it seems!
