FF stay strong. Ride the craving out. Do something else for ten minutes even at a time. What would work for you? Exercise? Snack? Meditation? Try something new even. I found YouTube guided meditation for addictions to listen to even and I never meditate.

Play the tape forward. Share a story here as a reminder of where you don't want to be anymore.

Stick with it CB. I found the more stressful things I got through the easier it got. I was just totally unused to dealing with stress cos I drank instead - but I learned. You will too

some good tips here:

I'm sorry you had that experience FF. I nearly killed myself with beer so it just shows there are know nothing 'experts' everywhere.

Stay focused tonight - just because you have the opportunity is no reason to do it. Re read back through old posts. You have a lot to fight for.

Be the person you want to be

Remember this link guys - great tips on cravings:

I'm still struggling, too. Chocolate milk with ice in it is a great replacement drink. I had two glasses. Grapefruit juice works well for me too. I've read about the hypoglycemia diet working well for alcoholics, but for right now I need the sugar as an immediate answer to the cravings. I still feel odd though. Wish that would stop! I've been reading posts here, that is such a big help. Now for the hot bath...

Finishing up day 9. I've been changing my patterns this week. I would often have a beer or two late in the afternoon, a couple hours before ending my workday. This week, I've made a point of going outside to work in the yard and/or play with the dog for 15 or 30 minutes in the afternoons and by the time I get back in, the moment has passed and I no longer want the beer.

The evenings have changed from TV and beer to books and herbal tea.

My sleep hasn't been as disturbed with this quit. (my second real one). I exchanged my over the counter PM pills for melatonin. I'm only getting about 6 hours per night but pretty much getting to sleep easy and sleeping all the way through. Dreams don't seem stranger than usual.

On the down side, I'm drinking substantially more coffee and smoking a lot more. I think I'll deal with those issues a bit further down the road, after I've processed sobriety a bit.

Anyway, just want to introduce myself to the class and say howdy!

Sounds like it's a tough night (or day) for a lot of us. I've stayed glued to SR and am munching on everything in my house that isn't nailed down. I hope sleep shows her pretty face tonight, but I'm prepared if she doesn't.

Hang in there everyone!

Nice, GN!

I am out of really sweet stuff unless I raid my kids' Valentine candy. Which I'm not above doing, just trying to do a cup of vanilla ice cream first lol.

Today I was kind to myself. I ate well, I exercised some, I got some important things accomplished. Even tho Im feeling very sick with sore throat. Most importantly I didnt drink today.

Happy to see all the check ins today .

Cococo, hope you are doing ok. Just replied to your thread, not sure of the time frame tho. Keep strong, stay focused!

I just made it home from work. Again, no stopping off for "supplies," that's not even an option anymore.
I want to report a side effect that I never expected: I'm actually happy. I was in a great mood today and I realized that this strange emotion I was feeling was . . . happiness.

I'm going to dive into Dee's making a plan thread. I've been avoiding it like the plague, just seems daunting. Time to peek. Notebook and pen are ready. Wish me luck, I'm heading in.

Im still sober everyone!

Keep it up everyone!

Ive read several posts from other SR members (not in our class) referring to our class as being seen by some in the SR community as a very successful class. They said lots of sticky classmates staying sober. Incredibly supportive. Great and frequent posters. Large class.

Isnt that nice!

I think it's a week for me today....I kinda hesitate to keep an exact count this time, as I don't want to get caught up too much in a number, but rather just live each day, each moment as it comes.
