Briar, you are a woman of many talents!!!!!

Thank you Leigh!

Just got back from a fancy French restaurant for my sister in law's birthday. Ate my weight in butter. It was fantastic. So grateful that I was able to do that and enjoy it.

It felt eerie to be downtown on a Saturday night sober. I told my husband what a vastly different experience it is for me to be there sober. He didn't understand, so I explained how alcohol changed everything about my perception. It made things look, feel, sound, taste, everything different. It intensified everything, including my own thoughts. So now, even when I'm in a place where I've been a thousand times before, being there sober makes it seem unfamiliar. He said it doesn't affect him like that. It was interesting for both of us to get a little more insight into each other.

It was such a nice dinner, and for a while I actually felt the way I always hoped alcohol would make me feel. At ease. Content. Happy.

Also, tonight I realized that it was no big deal for me to stay sober in a place where wine is a huge deal. I told the waiter no thanks and asked him to take my glass (I don't know if it's like this everywhere, but here restaurants set tables with a water glass and a wine glass). I didn't give a thought to what anyone would think. It was really nice.

V - I think things happen for us when it's time. This isn't a race, and how fast you go doesn't matter, as long as you're moving in the right direction. I think what you're doing is incredible.

What a lovely evening Briar, and what a beautiful thing to do for your milestone dinner, even if it was for you SIL.

I love that you had that conversation with your husband, and I love that you felt comfortable and content and happy tonight.

Good morning my friends. Not a lot going on here. I'm meeting my walking group in a bit, then lots of chores to tackle.

Sounds like a fantastic time Briar. And yes. I'll pass my wine glass off to the waiter right away if they don't just swipe it anyway. The o one has ever said anything, proving that I'm the only one that really cares or notices.

Busy, busy day yesterday. Today should be more restful. My only plans include church, the grill, and Meyer lemon cookies with lots of sunshine. I may trim up a crape myrtle tree that we have outside...but I'm not sure where to start. Sounds like a google session is in order.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Conquest - Meyer lemon cookies - cool! I was just staring at my lemon tree wondering what on earth I'm going to do with them. I'd love to find something healthier I can make with them and freeze. It's always jam, curd, lemonade, pie, etc. I've done lemon juice in an ice cube tray to make little bits for cooking. I'll probably do that again.

Good morning gang. Got lots of laundry done yesterday, had a nap, and enjoyed a movie with my boy, while hubby and daughter did a church related thing.

Off to pick up daughter, back later.

Briar, I love your Mandalas and their meaning to you. Now I want to try drawing my own! I found some YouTube tutorials to watch.

It is a gorgeous day here, cool, but sunny, and warm for February. Need to get out there and walk today.

Warmer, spring like weather has me feeling like I miss drinking a bit today. Drinking an inordinate amount of coffee instead...

Changes in weather used to do rouse those feelings, Arbor. A nice
Spring day, a Winter evening reading a book by the fire, etc. Rarely do I experience those feelings now.

Coffee rocks.

Yep. It's good to know those feelings change with time, Leigh.

Although, I really despise feeling like this still. It's been a while since I gave it any thought, but once again it rears its ugly head.

My first 12-18 months or so were like that, Arbor; those thoughts will come much less frequently and the voices will become much softer soon.

I know you're really busy with the kids and work Arbor, but maybe you could find time to squeeze in a meeting? Just that extra bit of support to help kick the AV back to wherever it goes...

I don't have any expectations that drinking thoughts are going to completely cease. If they do, great, but for now I need a whole toolkit to keep me safe and healthy. So when that pesky AV pops up, which it does every weekend (life at the beach, cafes, tons of people), I do something to distract me, and I get through it.

Anyway, that's just me.

Huge hugs darling Octsobers. ♥

Agreed V. That's what I do too. Got plenty going on to distract me. A meeting is a great idea. I've also been wanting to go for a run. Hey, I just rotisseried up a chicken on the grill. It's all good.
