Class of October 2014 Part 27
Glad you are taking a bit of time to regroup and care for yourself, Briar.
WRT credit fraud, ugh! We have also been hacked in the past, and once, while on vacation, and we could not use our card. We had an Amex card as a backup, but the town in NH had no places that accepted it. We were able to get cash, but of course incurred added fees to do that as well. My husband happens to work writing software to address banking and credit fraud. It is nearly impossible to stay ahead of it. The criminals come up with new ways to do it, and there is lag in development, of course.
Have a birthday cake in the oven. Ordered a gift for hubby, which will require an IOU. But, I remembered something he wanted, so I ordered it, rather than getting just a token gift. I need to go get a card, and perhaps a token gift to wrap, and making dinner reservations at a local place that is great for the whole family. Nice, good food, but not fancy.

You know the saying two steps forward, one step back?
"Two steps forward one step back..." is a catchphrase reflecting on an anecdote about a frog trying to climb out of a water well; for every two steps the frog climbs, it falls back by one step, making its progress arduous.
But the frog makes it.
You have made leaps and bounds in the past year darling Briar.
I know this is hard, and I know it is painful, but I think we deserve one day to celebrate.
I'm pretty chuffed we share the 27th....another month sober for me, and one whole year for you. We are doing this for ourselves, and we are doing it together. ♥

Interesting day here as I got a call from a detective with the Lansing MI police dept. to confirm that I was not in fact purchasing multiple iPads in Michigan. He say it's very rare that they catch the individual with the goods and the stolen credit information and that they'd like to move quickly to prosecute as they've been watching this guy for a while and would I cooperate. Oh but he$& yes I'll cooperate! I'll gladly fly my southern rear to Lansing if it'll help.
Makes my day.

That's great news, Mark. Glad that the crook was caught!!!!
I came here Feb 4, 2013. And I was sober until August 2014.
And yes, many people probably saw that relapse coming a mile away.
For about 6 weeks I drank and smoked grass (the grass came first). I was right back to two bottles of wine a night, and smoking 24/7. I was in BIG trouble...
October 26th I posted here....I told the truth about everything I was dealing with, and received incredible support.
I knew that I needed to do things differently if I wanted to live, and that meant embracing my sobriety in a way I hadn't done until then. So I made a commitment to myself and to others in recovery.
I feel like I am still only at the beginning of an incredible journey.

Well I'm glad your here. I'm glad your commitment is strong. It's amazing what it can take to finally embrace sobriety. I feel for those that never do. The journeys amazing, isn't it? Keep that positive attitude going sweet V. I'm so grateful to have met you.
