Looks like it's day 30 for me: I'm so grateful to the site and to each of you in this thread for all I learn, and for reminding me of my focus. Let's stick together and carry on

End of another sober weekend! Hope everyone did well. I had another one of these delightful all day headaches for no reason.

lulu - congrats on the job, and sorry for your slip up. But hey, you can do this!

Haris - great post. So true.

Nic/caramel - congrats on your milestones!

Delilah - great work!

Everyone else... New week ahead, carry on please!

Mav, no headache, but I am feeling quite off today, lethargic, tired, and just blah. Rebound effect? This too shall pass....

Congratulations Caramel on 30 days!! Great job
And to everyone on all milestones today!

Today was scary. Everything was fine early morning...had a nice healthy breakfast, posted and read here, and attended church with a friend. Halfway thru the service, AV came out of nowhere! It was relentless and I just wanted to go home and drink.
And to come at me in church of all places?

I reached into my tool box and thought about everything I've learned about myself and about others on this sobriety journey, including all of you dear peeps.

My car seemed to drive itself to the nearest bakery. I bought a delicious sugary gooey huge mess of a dessert and savored every bite. Then I went to bed with a good book, fell asleep and woke 4 hours later. Refreshed and AV gone!

Sobriety is hard work and remembering HALT saved me today.

Odelle--hope you feel better soon The blahs are no fun.

Lulu--thanks for the app info!

Nicely done Bandicoot!! That sugary, gooey mess sounds yummy!! I hate that AV can sneak up at any time, remembering HALT was very smart!!!

Hey January

Remember me. I first posted in here about 5 or 6 days ago. THEN I realised we were already into February hahaha. Talk about a ditz haha.

Some of you were so lovely to me, and said I could stay here or go over to February if I wanted, and that I could pop back in any time.

Well, here I am.

After 2 or 3 days of being sober I caved in and bought a bottle of wine and drank 3/4 of it. At least it wasn't my usual 2 bottles.

But I got straight back on the wagon the following day. Today, actually right now (its midnight here), is the end of day 3, and I made it! Day 3 is usually when I cave in, Ive been there dozens of times. With the support, caring and encouragement of SR I made it past my historically difficult day (day 3).

Its really late here, and I haven't got time to read through 3 or 4 days of all your posts, but I have had a skim read. You are all doing so well! I hope I too reach my 30, 40, 50 or 60 day mark like most of you. What an inspiration you all are to a newbie like me.

Cococo X

Morning peeps! Up early to call the IRS (ugh) and figure out where my return is and then a doctor appt and some errands. Calling the IRS reminds me of going to the dentist ... Usually painful.

Feeling a bit of anxiety with the upcoming move and coordinating all the pieces and parts. I moved back from abroad 6 months ago and it was fine, so I know I just have to plow forward and everything will work out. I made sure to leave a solid week after the move before I start the new role to unwind ... Was thinking of taking a hop to Mexico for some sun. We will see.

Anyway, have a great sober day all!

Way to go Cococo, you passed the 3 day initiation into sobriety! Stick with it because the rewards will far outweigh the investment over time; kind of like investing in the stock market, only this is investing in your life!

Lulu, I hope you are one of the lucky ones and can actually get through to an IRS representative! Good luck coordinating your move, but remain wary of any celebratory trips that may serve to give free reign to your AV.

Struggled again this weekend and caved into a two night binge. How do I go all of December, most of January with only one slip up and just completely wasted a week or two of February. Tomorrow won't help as we have a meeting with the medical staff to discuss end of life care and hospice options for my dad.

Oh M1. I'm so sorry you are going through this. For years our only solution to stress was drinking. It's going to take us some time to deal with it differently. Thank you for posting on here and I hope you keep going. I can't imagine the painful discussions you need to have but you need a clear head to process what's happening. My thoughts are with you. Keep strong!
Congrats on getting through day 3 Cococo. It really is the toughest time and once you're through it the commitment seems stronger and gets stronger day by day. One day at a time.
To my lovely January friends - carry on!😘

Hi everyone - hope you are well and hanging in there. I haven't posted in a while but have been reading daily. Still dealing with the on-again, off-again heart palpitations I mentioned in a prior post - have a cardiovascular specialist referral to figure it out. Hoping my drinking didn't cause permanent damage. Either way, I'm 40 days sober as of today and not looking back. Best bday gift I ever gave myself.

M1A1, anyone with long term sobriety will tell you that the first year is hard; each season brings different triggers, as does anniversaries and events. Probably the worst emotion any of us will have to learn to face sober is loss, either in relationships or in death. Don’t beat yourself up for caving in the past few weeks, just try to learn from it and move on. In reality, drinking solves nothing. It may help you to disengage temporarily, but the price paid is far too great for what it provides.

Best wishes to you and your family as you assist your father with his final affairs.

Hi Zeebs,

I was having heart issues unrelated to drinking. I recently had a heart ablation, it was a four hour procedure and has made the world of difference. This is after many visits to multiple doctors to determine what was going on. Good luck with everything, and staying sober definitely helps!!!

I'm so sorry about your dad. I'm glad you are back on here again. Lean on is for support. You can do this.
