Congrats on 50 days!

Well I called my doc today. Nurse said to try an over the counter med (I think cause I didn't have a fever). Can't think of the name... Commercial has a big snot wad! Like
Melsumex DM, Delsemex DM ? (that's not the name but whatever). Within a half hour I felt alive! My head is much more clear. My daughter's ex FIL stopped by. I knew he was also sick with the same. He also has cancer. I told him about this over the counter med. I was taking DayQuil. It really did nothing. I can't say enough about this medicine. I was really getting concerned that there was more to it than a cold here. I feel so much better. Had my granddaughter all day. She's been sick quite a bit this winter too.

Anyway, been sleeping a lot and feeling weird. I'm coming back finally!!

Love to you all.

Olivia

47 days today... had the most vivid dream that i bought a steele reserve somehow ended up with a pint of vodka and was hiding it sipping on it. I knew everyone could tell that i was drinking as people began avoiding my conversation but didn't care i was drunk in my dream warm gut and all. then bought more and ended up getting in trouble because someone else in the house got puky and i had to take care of them put them to bed slept it off and woke up to find a pint next to me under the blankets full of guilt and thinking well i already ****** up started again. my son woke me for work at 11pm tonight he should have been asleep but he was watching cartoon network and i think it makes him feel like a big boy telling me its time to get up for work lol. took me a while to get my head around the real world. trippy man... this has been a terrible week for me far as feeling like wanting a drink. dont have the energy to work after work and too pooped to do much so been hanging with my parents trying to stay busy. seeing that a bunch of you are hitting the 50 day mark is keeping me motivated congrats to everybody. hope everybody fights off the sniffles and gunk and feels better. i dig "Carry On!" Im glad to be part of the class of january! thanks everyone you are all awesome

Tonight has been the first night I REALLY wanted to drink. I've had a very emotional day. I have fertility issues. It's physical but of course alcohol doesn't help. I'm truly embarrassed to admit this. Totally insane - an alcoholic trying to have a baby. It's such an emotional ride of optimism and pessimism. Also, really missing my mum back home in Australia.
I didn't drink, but hate that I wanted to. I didn't have the energy to pick myself up out of the funk and allowed the negative thoughts to keep swirling around in my head. I just sat in front of YouTube all night watching old sitcoms smoking like a chimney (yes, not helpful). FYI episodes of "Absolutely Fabulous" are NOT a good way to try and distract yourself from alcohol - but still hilarious!
Sorry for over sharing, but it helps to explain my emotional state. Will wake up tomorrow to 4 weeks sober.
Have a nice day/night everyone. Now I need to think of five things to be grateful for today!!

Morning (& evening) everyone,

Wow, so much going on the last 24 hours.

Mish- being tired sucks (sorry for my language) but it does. Sorry you drank but so glad you know why and that you're right back here with us. And we love you!

KDB- so sorry about your friend.

Olivia- glad you're finally feeling better. I made a note about that med (however it's spelled) in case the bug hits me. Hope you're up and about very soon!

Thump- glad to see you're also better and posting again-

jhend- Congrats on 47 Days!! Those drinking dreams are scary--but that's all they are - Dreams. You are Sober--yay!

Nic- Good for you hiring someone to clean your home! Much nicer to spend hard earned $$ on stuff that helps us and makes us feel good.

Pedro- Congrats on the weight loss and good readings!

Sandy- Great question! Best things about Day 50? EVERYTHING- Something to think about that while riding my bike on this unseasonably warm winter day and later will create a gratitude list.

Dee- You are a rock! I don't know how you manage to keep up with all of us on so many different threads but please know how thankful I am for you and your wonderful wise counsel.

Thinking of all of you in our awesome January class and wishing everyone a good Sober day or night.

I'm off to enjoy this beautiful day. Talk to you later tonight.....

Oliva, I’m glad you are on the mend!

Jhend, it’s fairly common to have cravings around milestones, maybe 50 is one that you subconscious mind is playing on in the form of dreams. Hang in there, most likely you will be on easy street by day 51!

Sandy, stress also plays a big role! After five years of marriage, I too was worried after trying for a year and not conceiving; it wasn’t until I started the testing process that I finally became pregnant. You are lucky in the fact that you have this time to get your body as healthy as possible before conceiving. I quit smoking during both pregnancies (16 months apart), but started smoking again when maternity leave was up. Be happy in the fact that you are going through the alcohol recovery rollercoaster now, so that you will be able to give 100% of yourself to the demands of motherhood when the time arrives!

Having just gotten through this lingering illness, my little home is not quite up to snuff. I definitely have to get back to work!

(((Sunflower))) All your beautiful sober days are not worth giving up for one lousy beer or glass of wine. Just think about it in terms of value, you can always buy a beer but you can't buy even one day of sobriety!

Sunny, once you eat something, it will weaken the AV, as in HALT. Come on, stay with us here!

Congrats to those hitting the 50 mark!

Sorry about your friend KDB.

Nic - "no" no matter what. What do you need to do to ensure you don't drink? Request hubs not drink? Not go to lunch? Get something with more tang/sting than soda or tea (I went through a lot of grapefruit juice and spicy V8 early on as it tricked AV a bit)? Have something you would usually not have for food to indulge? Bail out?

Things are good with me. Birthday party for a friend tonight that will have mixed light to heavy drinkers. Working again this weekend.

I hit the 6-month mark for quitting smoking yesterday! Knowing how the cravings for that died down and all the benefits really helps reinforce strength for sobriety.
