You can toast with juice, water soda, anything outonthetiles - I've toasted with an empty glass before

Best wishes on your proposal

I made it home without stopping. Today was a day I definitely would have relapsed if I was doing this on my own. No question. Stressful day at work, I would have drank tonight if it wasn't for SR. thank you everybody.

Hang in there everyone! Today was stressful for me too. I felt my resolve weaken for a minute when a coworker interrupted a meeting I was having with one of my peers and suggested going out for beers. Thankfully he wasn't serious (the guy just loves to talk about drinking) and the plans did not materialize. For a second I thought, "F it, I can go back to day 1 tomorrow". So glad to be home and sober. I have my Kittycat purring on my lap and will be putting on the Homeland finale in a few moments......

Wow, outonthetiles....you will probably propose?? Or you will? You better get that straight

I second what Dee says. Toast with a fizzy non-alcoholic beverage! Especially if your gf doesn't drink, sounds perfect to me. Celebrate with chocolate!

Congratulations on 6 days, SansaS! The first week was the hardest for me. Withdrawal symptoms, crazy emotions, etc.. And I was really, really tired. I think it's a sign that our bodies are recovering from all that abuse. The exact same thing happened when I quit smoking--I felt like I could never sleep enough. At 18 days, though, I have a ton of energy. Keep it up!

HUNGOVER FREE AGAIN YEEHAHHH. Wow it feels great!

Morning all.Always great to catch up on everyone’s posts.

A few posts stood out to me which I would like to address

Outonthetiles.Congratulations! I can imagine Vday will be a massive trigger but that first drink will lead to many. There is no stop button for us guys. Is it worth all the hard work you have put into your journey so far? Please don’t feed your addiction because you know where that drink will take you. You want to be the version of you for your fiancÚ 

Patricia68: I suffer from chronic panic attacks too. Have you had therapy as there are mindful coping mechanisms that can help you. Drinking on it will make it worse. Since I quit drinking my anxiety levels have dropped considerably. I am miserable but happier than I have been in the longest while

Applekat Wow that film is so gruesome! He is a brilliant actor that's for sure.

Glad that a lot of you beat last nights craving to drink.

Day 19. My twenties are coming up!!

I'm just trying to literally recover, keep my head down, look after myself and get a clear head.
I know it's hard when they are little and so demanding but drinking as you know will only make things seem worse. Stay strong and hope the teeth all come through as quickly and painlessly as possible
Thanks Mia!! Yeah there were some darker days after my second came along, 21 months apart and that is when I first started staying home. At first I was like - "I've got this!" - I had never wanted anything else! Then vey quickly I thought to myself, "what have I done?!" Lol. Now by this third kiddo I know what I need to do but it doesn't make it easy all the time.

Truth to the saying.....the days can be long but the years are short...

We are not big on Valentine's Day - besides myself using it as an excuse for champagne. I'm lobbying for a new ice cream flavor this year.

This is mad but 19 days sober means I havnt drank 29 to 36 bottles of white wine and I have saved myself US280 to US385...maybe even more because I am not counting the times I go out and drink in bars.

Wow the money I spend on alcohol...and then I get annoyed because toilet paper is so expensive lol

Well, just lost a long post, hate when that happens. Anyhoo, day 3 is upon me.

Great to catch up on the posts this am. Turned in way early last night, so Im up earlier then usual, for a weekend. Good to hear many have made it thru those craving, myself included this time. Yay for us.

Not much on tap for the wkend, and its frigid here too. Always cleaning to do tho, with shermans army living here.

Congrats to everyone on your sober time, no matter the #. If you had a setback, just get right back at it.

I had the strangest, but most comforting dream last pm. It was about Jesus. I suppose because I have been praying alot lately, and spending time with him. I think he is guiding me, and gave me some insight about a few things in my life that I have been struggling with. I felt very warm and cozy, and at total peace this morning when I woke up. Just wanted to share that pleasant experience.

Well, hope my class has a great and sober today.

Hi Patricia,

The short story is that I am feeling much better. I still have bad moments, but things are mostly great. The longer story about my anxiety dates back many years. After trying this and that, the doctors said I have an inborn tendency to anxiety, and that my anxiety is not entirely situational.

So you can see I know well that feeling of chronic intense anxiety, relentless anxiety, sapping one's ability to function. That is why your situation is something with which I can identify. The chemical-free approach of strategically using sleep, diet, and exercise has been the best solution I have found so far. (Indeed, I am going to the gym in a few minutes.) I wish you all success in your efforts!

Hey everyone, just checking in because I feel like total crap!! My friend came round (who's wedding I acted like a total drunken idiot at) and my God did I get the full force of 'passive aggression'. I knew I would have to confront my behaviour( this is the 5th convo, we've had about my behaviour now) but seriously when will it stop??!! I've been feeling so positive but after hearing a blow by blow account of what everyone thinks of me I feel like crawling into a hole and never resurfacing. I'm so sick of feeling so bad about myself- I know I've done wrong but when will I ever get to move on. I suppose it's still early days for her and she is entitled but I hate myself all over again and feel like crying. I'm so humiliated and all positivity has disappeared. Sorry for the depressing post but I'm so sad and frustrated at myself for putting myself in this position all because of alcohol.
