Hi Julyers!
Back from the dead here... No not really but it felt like it. Really bad bronchitis, turned to dizzy spells, other unpleasantness, now seem to be on the mend.

Hi everyone,
I had a nice evening over dinner with friends. It's a holiday here, Family Day, and my friend says I'm like her family so that is lovely. She and her fiancé are going to Florida tomorrow for 10 days and I'm looking after their two cats. One is very infirm. She's 21 and can hardly stand, she's really skinny. She is eating and drinking though, but can't seem to see or find her litter box, so she pees everywhere. She's in a basement furnace room all alone all day. I feel so sad for her. She doesn't seem to have much quality of life. I really hope she's not in pain. My friends fiancé doesn't want to put her to sleep, nor even bring her to the vet to be assessed. I don't think that's right, but it's not my place to say, I guess.

Leshar ~ I would normally not say anything, but I don't think that's right either. That cat more than likely is suffering with kidney disease.
I hope you can convince your friend to take some action love.

Oh Leshar , that is so sad.
This cat has no quality of life if it can't even find its letterbox. They are such clean animals by nature, I'm sure this is very distressing for the cat.
I really think this poor cat needs to be put to sleep before she has lost all dignity and total quality of life.
This is not living, being in a cold basement.
I'd have a word when they get back because then you have a right to after looking after her for 10 days. Poor little mite xx

Poor kitty. 21 years of love is enough when any loved one is in pain.
Poor little thing too being away from home when so old and infirm.
Putting a pet down is a hard decision, but when all memory of your happy healthy pet is gone, and it's wracked with ill health, it's really just dragging out illness, not life.

Thanks so much, everyone. I'm glad you all agree with me. Croissant, I'll be going over daily to my friends so as least the kitty will be in a place she's used to. I think my friend doesn't want to rock the boat with her fiancé over the cat. It's his cat. But I will definitely say something when they get back. I'll be able to spend more time with her than they can and will have some input, I hope.
