Wrapping up day 25 and my AV finally came out. A recent and very wise post from Weasel1966 came to mind about HALT. So I stopped what I was doing and listened to my body and mind. Am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired?

Angry it was so I removed myself from that situation. There are so many words of wisdom here on SR that it's hard to keep up. So i started a document with advice and support relative to my situation with the following categories:

On that addictive voice
On relapsing
On being defensive
On resources (helpful links)
On a plan after 30 days

I keep this open on my tablet and refer to it often. It helped today!
Still thinking long and hard about why this particular incident made me so angry and how to handle it in a healthier way next time.
The good news -- AV Lost!

Meant to also ask how do others deal with all of the great information included in SR posts? Do you keep it, file it or just re-read the posts?
Is there a way to bookmark certain posts?

Still trying to figure it all out.....Thanks!

That's great, Mish

I've had a rough night emotionally, but with the help of an old friend who's got long-term 12-step sobriety, I've recovered my bearings.

I will not be drinking. I will not buy any alcohol. And I will deal with the feelings that brought this on at 1:30 am tonight, when I'm home and comfortable. I keep only mineral water in the fridge now. That will be a good time to address those emotions ... away from a store full of beer coolers.

Hard to keep up with all these posts! Closing up day 8. Waking up refreshed on Monday morning is not something I'm used to. It was a nice surprise. Busy week planned so hopefully av won't pop up much. One day at a time, one day at a time. I'm really trying not to think too far into the future. Just getting through the day and conquering the moment are enough. Hoping this continues to work

Back to square 1 for me - the car broke down on the way to my first AA meeting.

And yes, I walked to the shop and bought alcohol. Feeling disgusted with myself. I can't even manage one day,

I hope others are doing better x

Really keen to join this thread, it's a real positive place.

Day one for me, feeling ok. Just back on the bike and pushing those pedals as a wise man once said.

Virginia - did you dump it?

Glad to see everyone supporting each other. I'll join y'all in the 14-hour thread.

I'm back home in Syracuse with triggers to the right and left. So far, so good. But I am very seriously starting to plan a relocation. Life's too short!!

Virginia, defeat in battle doesn't mean losing the war. You can do this.

Car problems are stressful. It's a shame we can't take ourselves to a shop to get fixed, eh? No, we've gotta do that ourselves.

Thank you so much for joining Sean. I couldn't find your last thread or remember which Sean you were on the member list. I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting your experience. YOU are the reason why I started posting again. I'm so pleased that you are okay and that we can get to a better life together. The strength you found during such a vulnerable moment is truly amazing. You should be so proud of yourself. We are!
