Howdy!

Everyone sounds so good!

Just a quick check in. Back from the gym. Was with my son and daughter!

So the positives... I haven't used eye drops in A month. Was a daily user.

Haven't taken my two ibuprofen daily for a month!

Can brush my tongue wo gagging.

Feel way less bloated and puffy even tho scale is not showing a loss.

Eating real food. Good food. Taking vitamins and such.

How bout you?

Stay strong. Have a great day.

Olivia

As someone above said, I was not a daily drinker so it's not uncommon for me to go 5 or 6 days without drinking. I never got past 10 days sober. Today is day 5 and my first sober weekend. I have a very relaxing night planned - a nice dinner, a Redbox movie, and a new Steve Avery documentary (where are my Making a Murderer fans at?!). Tomorrow I'm deep cleaning my apartment which will keep me busy all day. I am kind of worried about tomorrow. First warm, sunny day in a while. Nice weather is always my trigger.

I hope everyone is doing great!!!

Sounds like you've got plenty to keep you busy this weekend! I just rented Trainwreck this afternoon- I love Redbox and all the promo codes.
Good luck tomorrow- I know what you mean about weather being a trigger. There is a certain temperature that always hits me and my AV comes out. Fill your day up so you can't even be tempted!

End of day 29 here. Next few days will be challenging. I've told co-workers I'm doing dry January so when they all went out for drinks after work they were like "ah it's nearly the end of Jan, you can have one". Someone even looked at me weirdly and said "how long are you planning on keeping this up!?" I just ignored it and changed the subject. (And opted to not go out for drinks with them.)

Good to all and congratulations to those adding up their sober days. Today is the first day I've woken up refreshed in a week. I treated myself to a massage last night. I had to get out of the house. I'm on day 6. I haven't had cravings as such but do find myself wondering around the house trying to distract myself.
One I'm doing to be active in my recovery is pick up some extra work just to keep me busy. On my Monday my classes are cancelled so I can have the day off but still be paid. A week ago I would have thought great! Cancelled anything else I had on that day, stock up and drink myself stupid to about 3pm. Sleep, run to the shop to fill up any bottles before the hubby got home and start drinking with him again but only half a bottle because I'm "taking it easy tonight". What a stupidly insane life! How can I be capable of doing something like that? Anyway, instead of that plan I opted to join another teacher for the day. It is so important that I keep proactive. I've been doing this for a while and I know my triggers all too well. I can crush the ones in the foreseeable future to focus on the unexpected triggers.
Hope you all well today. For those struggling, I'm sure your struggles sober is not as bad as the struggles when or after drinking. Be positive and smile.
Take care

Mav- last time I attempted to quit the alcohol, I had told work colleagues and Family that I was trying to lose weight and not drinking for now. As I did start to lose weight, they started badgering me to just have one.. It's a treat, you're so boring now etc.....I felt cornered.
This time I've told people I'm not drinking any more. The end. I offer no explanation (besides close Family) but unless you're comfortable sharing your reasons- it's not their business and I think it adds pressure. Hope you come up with a plan as you've done so well so far.. Congratulations on day 29!! Nice work!!!

Hey Sandy! Well done on your 6 days.. Sounds like you're doing all the right things and staying active and busy. It's great to hear that you have a plan for Monday when you know that could be a huge trigger.
I think if we plan ahead we have a much better chance of getting through this. I know I have a few occasions coming up in the next month or so I will need to be mindful of, and make sure I'm well equipt with both excuses and well thought out plans...
Hope the rest of your day is wonderful xxx

what can you do differently this time Roger?

I'm sorry things are rough at the moment sunflower - if you need help[ why not go back to your prescribing physician and ask their advice?

congrats on nearly 30 MAV - and congrats to everyone hitting a milestone today no matter what it is

Morning all. 7.30am here on a wet Saturday and I'm sitting back in bed with a Nespresso coffee and my sober recovery!! Enjoying the peace and quiet before the boys are awake arguing, running around with the dog and nagging me to go on their computer games!!! All feels so peaceful.
im on day 20 today.. Can't believe it's almost 3 weeks. Seems like this journey is taking forever lol!! I just want to be one of those people in life who don't drink.
I have a meeting tonight which I'm excited about as I love them... Today I will stay busy with my boys.. I May have to change up the plans a little because of the weather... But I'm present and I'm sober.... I still can't get used to waking up feeling so fresh and energetic... I love sobriety.... Wishing you all wonderful days or nights and sending my love and hugs xxx

As January comes to a close, I did a count today and I spent 21 days of January sober. For me, that's big!! (Given that I don't drink tomorrow or Sunday, which I'm not planning on). Hoping to beat my record next month!!

Day 11. Long day... I don't even want to list out all the things that are bringing me down now. My aunt is about to lose her battle with brain cancer, for one.

It's Friday night, I'm home alone, and I think my best bet is to just go to bed. This is the kind of day that wouldn't be easy for anyone.

Welcome back Bluedog, and congratulations on adding tools to your sobriety box. Stay close, and take this one day at a time, and by your first IOP meeting, you will have 3 days to build on!

Yay Strangeangel, 21 days is an awesome achievement! I can remember around 5 years ago, I started marking non-drinking days on a calendar; rarely did I have 4 or 5 days in a given month. Realization leads to action, leads to progress, leads to success!

Nic, you sound wonderful! 3 weeks is as awesome as the benefits you are realizing. Enjoy your day!

I'm sorry your aunt is terminal, StrongBird, you are right, anyone would have a hard time dealing with the emotions. Turning in early sounds like a good plan, maybe a long bath before to help you to relax?

Stay strong, you've got this.
