I'm so sorry Penguin. Those little critters burrow right into our hearts :-(

You'll feel better tomorrow for not drinking, even if you are still heart broken. Maybe have some comfort food instead? I'm eating apple crumble for breakfast.

I am looking after five foster rabbits right now.

I think dinner at a Mexican restaurant without a beer would be tough. I recently compared my January 2015 Credit Card statement to my January 2016...Wow! I have less than 50% as many transactions and over $600 less spent. I was a "go to the gas station" 3 times a day kind of guy (large beer, 6 pack, another 6 pack). Pretty cool to see the change!

Oh my gosh you have no idea how much less! Amazing how there isn't a clinking sound that you can hear for a half mile (not sure how far that is in kilometers Those gas station attendants probably think I died or something!

Day 10.

Since I wasn't a daily drinker, I am very aware that tonight is the first day I normally would have drank. I would have wished to drink between the last time and now, but tonight? It's been long enough that I feel fine. We wrapped up a lot of big, big stuff at work today. My daughter is at her dad's tonight. It's Thursday. I had to stop by the store for a few items... it would have been so easy to just buy some wine or beer and junk food for dinner and "decompress."

Instead, I picked up the items on my list plus some nice smelling shampoo and conditioner. I came home, put on workout clothes, and cooked and ate a healthy but quick meal. I am letting myself decompress by posting here, then I'm going to get in a quick workout, take a shower with my new yummy smelling hair products, and curl up in bed with a book. And wake up feeling marvelous tomorrow.

If I can be 100% open and honest, I feel a bit resentful >right now< that I'm not going to get to check out of real life for the night. Life is hard. Escape is nice. But I know that I won't wake up at 3am with my heart beating out of my chest thinking "WHYYYYYYY did I do that again, I have GOT to quit!" I won't be shaky all day tomorrow. I won't have a headache. I won't be ashamed.

I know I'm making the right decision.

Steve, we only recycle every other week here and as I was rolling my clanging bin to the curb last night, I was thinking, "I can't wait to see how much lighter it is next time!"

(Of course, I'm now drinking my weight in cans of seltzer water, so I'm sure there will still be a racket. LOL!)

Lol, my recycling bin is nearly empty and oh so quiet!

Strongbird, this isn't my first class, but I must say this has been my easiest quit so far. I have read on here numerous times that a person will quit when they are ready; I am living my ready!

Steve, isn't it amazing how much money we spent on alcohol? I can't wait to see my savings grow!

I'm sorry Penguin.
I lost my GP too when I was drinking.

I really regret now I did not give her the best life I could, and I really regret getting drunk when she died. She deserved a better send off, y'know?

StrongBird - I think you'll come to embrace reality like I did - it's pretty cool to be 'present' all the time.

I try to stay balanced tho - I need some down time too - and after a while it's easy to find positive healthy ways to goof off a little

Hi all! The savings is incredible! I figured my husband and I spent an easy $600 month. Easy.
Our dumpster was mostly wine bottles! My husband said the last time he looked in there, there were at least ten empties!

Been tired but running ragged. Hit the gym, etc.
Sober so that's what matters.

Just a quick check in! Stay strong.

Today was terrible at work.
HowEVER...... I'm playing(watching) my 7 yr old play the latest " lego avengers- age of ultron" game. Day got better.
I've discovered that my earplugs I use to sleep are causing me to get ear infections. I'm really hoping to find so e type of sleeping earmuffs . My 2 yr old is just too loud, and I'm a terrible light sleeper.
Another 24 hrs down.
I'm hoping big for all of us !

Worked 8am (which means 7:45 am) -3:30... still training week. It was fun but grueling. Left my cell at home so I couldn't get in touch with my bf or friend that's been picking me up... had to walk to the bus stop after being on my feet all day. Was not happy about that or waiting in the cold for the bus. Got back to the bf's... showered and then he drove us down to my house so I could check on things and teach a pvt yoga class to a friend and her dil. I really wasn't feeling yogic but once the wood burning stove was lit and heating up the house, candles and incense all around with Krisha Das playing I fell back in my teaching zone and all was well in the world again. At least for an hour.

This job isn't exactly providing me the stable 9-5 hours I was looking for. It's training week so I know it will change, hopefully? The mgr told everyone today we open on Monday and everyone should expect to work double shifts. Meaning 10am-1am???!!! F that. I will probably be fired at that point because there's no way for me to get back to my bfs house at that time. And 1am really means 3am. Those are the closing hours. I'm stressing about the possibility already. Still, I need the income so....

I hope everyone is well. I can't keep up right now. Just wanted to check in for accountability... 2 weeks today.

The meeting that I was kind of dreading forty-eight hours ago turned out to be a really pleasant encounter that went fine.

My buddy Radar advises living in the moment, because when we worry about the future, we have a tendency to catastrophize it.

Slipped up tonight after a tough 8 hour visit with my dad who has been hospitalized for the last 7 months. Only had one drink but I feel Stupid for it. Need to just let go of the crutch. Grabbing a bottle of water and headed for bed.

M1A1-No need to beat yourself up. Hopefully 1 beer doesn't lead anywhere. At least you know not to do more. Good luck. It's all good buddy.
