It's as if I'm a soldier who's been hit in battle, and my fellow soldier, who's been by my side for a long while, turns to me and says: we fought in vain.

Hi Potamus,

I'm sorry you have had such a tough time since the surgery. I wish we could somehow transpose Tom's helpfulness onto Brian for you. Hopefully you will continue to heal quickly and will be able to get back to your routines and make decisions on how you want to move forward.;-)

Maybe it's the only way he can express concern. If so, it's twisted.

I wouldn't have treated him this way. And I don't even like him anymore.

I've got to get sleep. This is a nightmare.

I can't sleep through the night. I wake up several times.

Hopefully, you're deep asleep.

My normal sleep pattern now is to wake up several times. Better than the ole drunken coma I used to be in.

Pain will wake you up. I shredded a knee at 17 and have been hurting since. I haven't been good to this body and it complains all the time When I was drinking that analgesic'ed the pain until morning. Now, I wake up and find a new position that's comfortable and go back to sleep.

'Potamus, you can't heal AND wage battle at the same time. Take the rest of the week off. Be a sloth. Read, relax, and stop pushing it, OK?

Beautifully said, Venecia.

I agree completely.

SP, I know you're having a tough time and I'm sorry the pain is bothering you now, but, you can get through this. I hope you've been able to get some rest, if not sleep. (((SP)))

SP,

In my experience, PMS can make pain worse (or at least seem worse).

I saw Labor Day -- thought it was a good movie. Doubt is awfully heavy for someone recovering from surgery. How about something light like Kate & Leopold?

I'm depressed. Very.

I think I'm ok otherwise. I'll know on Tuesday at my appointment.

Still numb. And just very depressed about the future.

If it's any help at all, most of the time for me, the future I'm depressed about and fear turns out to be very different than I expected by the time it gets around to being the present.

There's only been a couple of times that that was not a truism for me, also.

'Potamus, will it help if we temporarily call you SoldierPotamus?

Feel better, soon.

No need to be depressed Jen, this is something you have wanted for ages and you have had found the tenacity and character to go through with it. I expect that for every one of you Jen there are another ten people who dream about going through the surgery /procedure but never get round to actually doing it and are full of regret

The breakdown in the relationship between you and your husband is horrible but better that it happened while you are still young. Punish him by enjoying your life and being the smart competent woman that you know yourself to be

PS - I have some really good advice on the fitted sheets thing too - grow longer arms, it's easy then.

"Punish" was too strong a word, "rise above" would have been a better choice

^^^ Same is true for me, courage and Potamus.

You are an intelligent, articulate, strong and courageous woman. My guess is that your future is very bright.
