Hot and sticky here.....BOO HISS

So I woke last evening and got up for some water. As I'm hobbling back to bed on my aching feet I randomly mutter 'I'm so glad I'm not a drinker anymore'. I have not idea where that came from but it was a nice way to fall back asleep.

For all my talk of being a carnivore, I couldn't be a butcher. I've just finished preparing hens for the smoker. The sounds and look of cutting out the back bone with the kitchen scissors , along with all that nasty raw juice ....yuck! But counters and me are all clean with Clorox now and the apple wood is smoking away.

Hope the week has started well and I look forward to an update on your class V.

Cutting up a chicken makes me queezy, too, Mark. I've only done it twice.

Not many supermarkets carry 'whole chicken cut-up' any more in this area.

Oh gosh, I'm cringing. When you said hens Mark, I thought you meant live hens...memories of my very early youth. My grandmother lived with us, and she had chickens. Images of her running around the backyard chasing the chicken with an axe.

Good morning.

Good morning V! Happy Tuesday.

Leigh, it's hard to find 'bone in' cut up chickens here too.....except maybe leg and thigh. Time to check on the birds and see if they look more appealing yet.

I love to use a cut-up whole chicken for making chicken stock . . . .

Morning guys. Well, last night I came down with my daughter's stomach flu I thought I had avoided. Super fun times! I'm feeling a lot better already, though. Cookin' up some white rice in broth for dinner. Maybe some apple sauce for dessert. Woo!

I grew up on a farm, and my folks raised chickens, rabbits, and lambs for slaughter. Reason #879 why I will never move back to the country.
