Day 17 straight. I think my baby girl might pop a tooth for my birthday tomorrow lol. Teething is so fun, ha!

Checking in when I can. I am anticipating the new Netflix show "Fuller House" next month having grown up watching Full House. In light of that I cruised through Jodie Sweetin's book "Unsweetined" about her addictions. Adding that to the list of recovery related literature I've read.

Also, saw The Revenant yesterday (escaped my kiddos for three hours, crazy!) and it was so intense and good.

Keep on keepin' on class!

Thank you Mish. I'll follow your advice. I woke up with lots of anxiety and panic. And I've been fighting it all morning long. It doesn't help, all I do is to get more anxious. Like you said, everything looks grey and it feels like it's never going to end. I feel exhausted and it's only 11am...

Today the only thing that stopped me from getting a drink, is eating.
Not drinking today. Glad I are. AV was coming on big time.

Day 14... Halfway through and it's a tough one. Just want to go to bed as I feel like there's no point in being awake... I'm sure it'll get better. Puppy and chores giving me head melt, just need to breathe..
Start week three tomorrow... Thats the way I need to look at it.
Hope Tuesday went well for all

I'd like to come back, if that's ok. I had an episode a few days ago and gave in. Got to come up with a better way to deal when the intense anxiety hits.

Day 1.

Hi everyone - just my daily check in to keep me accountable. Day 15 for me. Starting to get nervous about my physical on Friday - but I know "knowledge is power" - whatever the results, at least I'll know facts.

Still can't stop eating and sleeping ridiculous amounts ... But I'm ok with it while my body figures everything out after drowning it in booze the last 10 years.

Yes; insomnia and dehydration are both normal. They pass.

Ok. Still in bed again. Watching shows and eating.

I've been completing daily rituals. I try to write in my journal, I try to do the minimum amount of exercise, I try to write down one good thing that happened every day. On the end of that day. I put $10 in my jar.

I'm depressed

Day 11 is OK. My therapist, Krista, wants to use "Acceptance and Commitment" therapy. It is supposed to be the latest and greatest method from the school of behaviorism. She recommended the book "The Happiness Trap."

And she wants me try accupuncture for anxiety and depression. It sounds a little tutti-fruit New Age to me, but I will try anything once. My first puncture appointment is in an hour. All this is costing money, yikes.

I got lucky with her. She is in recovery, and she dislikes AA. I like her a lot and the session felt significant. Tomorrow, I will see her again at my request, and then weekly.

I stopped by my neighborhood florist on the way home and told them I would intern (work for free) if they would teach me floral design. The conversation went really well.

So why am I still in the dumps today? It is like I do not know how to be happy. No desire to drink or use though, and I know full well that life feels much better than it did a month ago. My brain is just being an uncooperative b*tch.

Thanks for the welcomes. Pretty down on myself, not just for giving in again, but for everything else going on around me. Not much really going my way. Drinking is absolutely not the proper way to deal with it.

I start outpatient rehab in a week. Can't come soon enough.

Congrats on day 19 benice, you're doing just great, and well done on everyone else on another day in the bag. Applekat, Gib & everyone else, you're all doing a great job - we can all do this!!

Stick with us today's newcomers, you've joined a lively and amazing group which will help you put lots of life experiences into perspective. You're never on your own in this, someone else will have had the same hopes and fears.

Silly - sounds positive on the therapist, really hope she makes the difference for you. You are certainly taking an active approach to your recovery and doing whatever it takes to succeed. It'll take time I guess for the mood to stabilise. I think we tend to underestimate the emotional energy quitting any substance takes from us. Keep doing what you're doing, I love reading your posts!

Plenny - loving your commitment to the $10 jar idea! Still haven't started that officially myself, but I have calculated my average previous alcohol spend and will be taking myself on a shopping trip in March for some clothes. The drain on my finances from alcohol made me lazy on my appearance, and I think my wife would appreciate it if I turned her head with a new look! Promised myself now!

Lulu - I've been the same with the eating aspect in the early days. Taken a few liberties on that front! I pretty much decided to go easy on myself though until I get a month in the bag. Food discipline can be my side mission for February! Trying to get some good exercise habits going anyway, should make a difference.

Hope everyone else is having a great day. Keep on putting sobriety first and put the plan into action, in tasty, bite-size pieces.

CC

Great to hear that you’re feeling better today, Thump! I loved the clip response to decaf coffee, made me giggle, probably because I can relate to that too!

Hang in there Pat, it will be worth the pain, I promise!

Glad you won that war, JL. Wishing you some immediate peace and contentment!

Good to see you back, Bluedog! Unfortunately, slips happen early on, but you got back up and will be stronger this time!

Day 1 generally sucks, StrongBird, day 2 sucks a little less, and day 3. You’ll feel better soon though, so don’t give up!

Sorry you’re feeling down today, Plenny. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Day 2 is great TigerLili, keep it up!

SH, it sounds like you had a really good day so far, I can’t wait for an update on the acupuncture.

I was feeling a little down earlier, Bluedog. Coming home from the store, I was waiting at a red light and a handicapped person crossed the street in front of me, with obvious physical difficulty. Sometimes we are sent signs to appreciate the good things in our lives and to stop focusing on the bad. Hugs!

Day 12 here (dirty dozen?) and still no AV. You think it finally got the message and moved on to the next poor, unsuspecting soul?

Welcome and welcome back KT222, StrongBird Bludog and Jillian.

I know I say it a LOT but it really is fundamental - get a plan together.

http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...ery-plans.html

If you had a plan and it fell apart, make a better one

I really believe everyone here, and everyone reading can be sober ans stay that way - takes a little patience, planning effort and commitment, but it's very achievable - for anyone

Post here if you're in trouble - before you drink.
It worked for Mish - it can work for any of you guys too
