Busy place today! Went to the gym again today with my daughter. Then we went shopping at the mall and lunch at the food court. I am still eating like a hog and sleeping like a log ! I think I am so tired because my mind and body are healing after way too long a run with way too much alcohol!

I've read somewhere like it might take a few months to get over this lethargy. I used to get up at like 6 am. Now I usually sleep till closer to 8:30. And I get a full night's sleep! I do feel tired during the day but it is so good to be sober that it's all good. My daughter has drank twice since Christmas or New Years she said. She says I'm a good role model now. She also said it's so nice to save the money. She also said she was drinking more than she let on. She called me and thanked me for another good day with her. I was always so buzzed I was always in a hurry to get on with my buzz and get going on home!!!

Well I can't change the past but I sure can change the future. I always did kinda believe you really cannot change. I definitely realize this is not true. You can most definitely change your behaviors. I'm so glad I'm realizing this. I told my daughter today to enjoy her life. It's going way way too fast for me.

My husband doesn't use a smart phone or computer. He used to get kinda aggravated I was on it so much. I mostly read here on SR. So tonight he says, "You just keep doing whatever it is that you are doing." He's still totally sober too!

I thank God for my newfound strength.

Sunflower - is that a yoga DVD that u do, Utube? I've been looking around Utube lately. Gonna pass on my mind-body book to my daughter along with my hypnosis cd. I bought the MP3 download and the cd. You are allowed to burn a cd from your MP3 but I didn'to know that so I paid $5 for the cd. I will continue listening to the MP3 player. Still gonna find a local class too.

On another thread, Amp said something to the affect that when you decide that you really don't want to drink anymore, things really do change. That's where I'm at!

Gonna call it a day. Lots of great posts on here. Thank you all.

I'm off to my second meeting tonight. Different location with different people so feeling a little anxious. One of the lady's took me under her wing last night as I had called her earlier in the day to ask about AA.. I'm running solo tonight. Wondering what they will expect of me... Will they know I'm new to this?

Rough day today. The ex- really ripped me up, hurting me with an intimacy/cold shoulder yoyo move. AV was there, but distant ... mineral water for me tonight. My sobriety comes before anything or anyone. I'm finding it easier to deal with these heavy emotions without the alcoholic fog, even though the pain is sharper.

I guess this is chickens coming home to roost, for all the times I've hurt her with my drinking. I want to cry, but there are no tears, so I'll soldier on. Probably go pick up the guitar and play some blues. I sure got the right.

Good morning everyone- got up at 6:00 instead of 5:30. Have a slight headache from this cold I acquired.

Today starts our official weekend since DH is always off on Sunday/Mondays. Curious to see if he will drink (he did last weekend because we had company and it was his birthday).

I am feeling really good- so glad to be sober. I just want to find a program and really wish the non AA ones had meetings around here. I like the idea of being able to meet other sober women/Moms but I am not 100% into some of the ideas of AA (being powerless for example). So I'm not sure whether to try it anyway or just get a book like RR. Any thoughts? I know this is common.

Not much else to report- had a great day with the kids yesterday, took them to the zoo. I was so pooped by the time we got home though and neither one of them napped. I am getting very irritable lately because I don't have any space. My 16 month old has been very clingy and wants to be held /nursed constantly. I am so "touched out", just don't want to be touched by anyone and I don't have that option. He nurses all night too.

I hate saying this but I look forward to when he is a little more independent. Anyway, that day will come.
Happy, Sober Sunday my friends, blessings to you all...

Quote of the day:

First of all, you attitude is infectious! You sound great, thanks for being so uplifting!

The specific yoga sessions I do (called Kundalini Yoga) is not on Youtube but the first one I ever tried was. I use a channel called GAIA TV (on Roku- we don't use cable) and it is all about meditation/yoga/paranormal/self help/metaphysical concepts. Great channel, I love it. I also have a couple dvds by Maya Fiennes. Just search "kundalini yoga" in Youtube and a few will come up, or search for Maya Fiennes to see what it's all about (very different than the yoga people do at the gym).

The library is a great way to find a dvd you like before buying one! If you want to do regular yoga (non Kundalini) check out Rodney Yee- he is one of my favorites and can be found on Youtube, I am sure.

Morning everyone.
Day 12 here. Last night I caved and smoked a cigarette, which I normally never do sober, but I'm not beating myself up over it as I did go out with three people who were drinking wine and beer and I stuck to red bull and stayed sober.
Here's to another 24 hours for all of us.

Day 9 and having a fantastic time with my family skiing! Have not had the slightest desire to drink because we're all so busy skiing morning to night. That's a huge hint for me as my boredom is a trigger for me to drink and nap. I will make sure to exercise regularly and have a to-do list ready. Looking forward to finishing up Day9 and moving on to double digits!

Hi Sunflower!
I owe my 3 year sobriety to a 12 step program. Being somewhat of a control freak, I too struggled with the first step. I just listened, did the work and waited for step 2. You don't have to "agree" with everything at first. Later steps convinced me that I am powerless but it is not essential to gaining the benefits of the rest of the program.

I hope you reconsider and join😂

Hugs...

I don't feel that AA is the only way. My issue is, and perhaps I didn't express it correctly as I wrote that before my coffee, I believe I am powerful and my own God is within me. I believe in a higher power but I do not pray to it because I believe we all have access to it when we become spiritually enlightened. Yes, I cannot drink again but I am what I think I am. I can be as strong and powerful as I believe. Does that make sense? I don't like that concept that I have to surrender to something outside of me, because I believe we hold all the power within ourselves.

While there's talk of AA on the board, I was wondering if anyone has been to a meeting in Europe..specifically the UK or Spain. As some of these areas aren't very religious, I was wondering if they're a big factor in European AA meetings.

I live in an area when being anonymous is really hard due to my nationality. I really wish I was able to do the chat meetings here, but the time difference makes it kind of impossible.

Good morning class. I woke up with a headache today, but it should subside after my morning coffee.

Yesterday I reported to my new PT job only to find the manager on duty wasn't prepared for me; I wasn't in the system yet. I completed final paperwork and told him "no worries, call me when you are ready for me to begin." It was a quiet, uneventful day, something I am appreciative of now. Life doesn't always have to be entertaining, tragic, stressful, or rainbows and unicorns, sometimes it just is.

Day 10 today, yea double digits! Stand tall and proud class, we are doing this, one day at a time!

Hi to everyone in my class and welcome to the newcomers!
I've been very lax about posting this week. Between the house remodel, a houseguest and now a wicked case of shingles I just didn't check in..
I hope everyone is doing well an I'm going to catch up on all of the threads today.
It really helps to be active here, even if it's just reading. Anything to keep the AV at bay!
